Tomsk ecologists argued about the size of water protection zones. The law prohibits any economic activity on their territory. But in our region, this is the sphere of interest of oil workers. Strange as it may seem, it was Tomskneft scientists who advocated increasing the size of the protected zones. In Tomsk, the water protection zone is swamps. Two thirds of the territory of our north. They adjoin the water areas of water bodies, and any industrial activity in the Tomsk swamps is officially prohibited, as it violates the ecology of our region and northern neighbors.
However, there is a law on water protection zones, and there is oil production in these seemingly state-protected territories. A precedent appeared in August of this year. Our White House has approved the size of water protection zones at the Krapivinskoye and Pervomaiskoye fields. Officials went along with the environmentalists who represented the Eastern Oil Company.
Tomskneft ecologists have developed 13 projects for water protection zones. In their opinion, oil well clusters cannot be installed in these zones. The first consequences of such management are the massive death of river fish.
But today the environmental council, headed by Alexander Adom, recommended that the regional authorities cancel their August decree. Now, with this resolution in hand, oil workers can be fined billions of rubles for polluting the environment. And, as it was said at a meeting of the environmental council, such a policy can frighten off the main taxpayer of the Tomsk region. As they say, no comments.
