EXHIBITIONS

Hulo Sooster. Personal exhibition 40 years after the death of the classic “other art”, the cult figure of the Soviet underground, Hulo Sooster. It brings together famous paintings, rich in philosophical paradoxes, reflecting a passion for metaphysics and surrealism, and lesser-known works of graphics and book illustrations. An important place in Sooster’s work was occupied by book and magazine illustrations: he took them on as the only way to earn money, but he did them just as carefully and seriously as he did painting “for himself.” The exhibition also features Andrei Khrzhanovsky’s animated film “Julo Sooster,” which consists of two parts: “Landscape with Juniper” and “School of Fine Arts.” Literary Museum (Trubnikovsky Lane, 17), until March 3.

“Propaganda poster and front-line photography 1941-1945.” The exhibition presents for the first time more than 50 original layouts of propaganda posters created by Leningrad artists in 1942-1943, as well as front-line photographs from 1943-1945 from the personal archive of the Hero of Russia, holder of the Order of Alexander Nevsky, participant in the 1945 Victory Parade, pilot- attack aircraft Alexander Ivanovich Zenin.
