Several countries - most notably Japan, South Korea and Singapore - have suspended imports of American beef. “Mad cow disease” is an extremely dangerous infection for livestock that can lead to human infection with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Now Chilean judge Juan Guzman Tapia has sent a request to the Santiago Court of Appeal to remove the legal immunity that Pinochet has as a former president of the country. It should be noted that previous similar initiatives failed.
