I believe that a candidate for the presidency of the Russian Federation who refuses public debate does not have the moral right to become the President of Russia.

Scared of public debate - or does not have a clear plan of action and cannot present it.
Or he knows something about himself and is afraid that it will be announced at the debate.
Or he was up to something bad.

I don't see any other reasons. Maybe delusions of grandeur.
