| Russian woman sets a world record At a competition in Stuttgart, Svetlana Feofanova updated the world record in pole vaulting indoors, clearing a height of 4 m 71 cm. Now the organizers of the largest international competition in our country, “Russian Winter,” can only bite their elbows - they did not include this event in the competition program . And if Feofanova had taken part in the Moscow tournament, then the birthplace of the planet’s new highest achievement would have been the Znamensky brothers’ arena in Sokolniki.
Feofanova has long been trying to match the world record of American Stacy Dragila. The other day in Dortmund, Germany, she renewed her European achievement, clearing the bar at a height of 4 m 66 cm, and was ready to jump higher than the world record. In the absentee dispute, Feofanova finally won against Dragila, and victory in the head-to-head duel is next. By the way, to the question: “Are you not afraid of Stacy Dragila?”, Sveta answered: “No. For me, there are no rivals in the sector except one. This is the height itself.”

“I’ve only been involved in athletics for two years,” shared Ilya. - Previously, several years ago, I played football. Then I entered Tula University, I will soon graduate and become an engineer. In the first years of studying at university there was no time to play sports at all. Today I finished with a personal best. Don’t ask about my personal achievement in the 100m. I'll tell you, you'll be horrified - 10.67. This happened last year at the national championship in my native Tula. This season I’m sure I’ll lose at least half a second.
The winner in the high jump, Marina Kuptsova (she achieved a height of 1.98) also referred to her studies: “This year I held a number of competitions very confidently, and now I don’t care at all. For a very long time it was not possible to combine studies at the institute and classes at the Moscow State Pedagogical University in the department of physical education. Surprisingly, they even found fault with me there, rather than helping me. I have never been able to even reschedule even one test. I’m very glad that I managed to win when all the strongest took part in the competition.”
Yuri Borzakovsky ran not the usual 800, but a short 400 m in his usual, winning style. He was only fourth going into the final turn and then accelerated to finish first with the best result.
