![]() Crystal Castles | Canadian militant part two The output of the new Crystal Castles plate preceded the Doe Deer track, which sowed panic among fans: the overloaded sound was more like a young Slegh Bells than the chip yards of Canadian heroes. In less than a week, after two EPs, the album itself rejoiced on the network, which placed everything in its place. It is worth starting with the fact that neither chiptyun, nor something similar to “doe deer” on the new plate. Almost a watch album is a sketch on the topic of how modern dance music looks like. The album came out with excellent dramaturgy: the first few tracks help to join the rhythm of the records, then several hits are going on, which may well fall into rotation on European radio, and then are replaced by the most aggressive dance works. The vocals are practically not used, with the exception of several songs, in the rest it is very distorted and is more likely a simple design. It is also worth noting cooperation with Johns from the popular Sigur Ros group: the track “Year of Silence” with its buried vocals is drawn to one of the best new works from the record. After listening to the album, the fourth day can not find a place for myself. I only know that Crystal Castles know what they are doing. ![]() |
![]() LCD SoundSystem | Another ode to New York In terms of time, between the recording of the album and its leak on the network from the mouth of James Murphy, reports that the third record of the group would become the last in discography - the time of albums, according to him, has already passed. The first single from the third album of LCD SoundSystem “Drunk Girls” seemed a lot of jokes: not even a week has passed on the backdrop of a stupid YouTube roller with a cut of drunken young ladies (now the video has already been lost). Almost the entire new work is a collection of the 2007 disco-focus: all the same guitar sound, New York in each note and there is even an attempt to record the new “All My Friends” in the form of “All I Want”. Murphy himself said about his work as follows: "It is definitely better than the previous two." The latter is Murphy’s album released under the LCD SoundSystem , or not, it doesn’t matter. The main thing is that in its unchanging form, James can still find something new. ![]() |
![]() Frog Eyes | Indie rock from Canada as it is “Paul's Tomb: A TRIUMPH” is already the fifth studio record of the Canadian Indi-Rock of the Frog Eyes group, but little has changed from the first album. The basis of the Frog Eyes project is the poet and composer Carey Mercer, his wife is on drums. Mercer himself, along with participants in Destroyer, Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown, is the Canadian Swan Lake Super Group. At a new job, Frog Eyes Carey, as before, sings falsettes, breaking away on tears, while a typical guitar indie rock plays against the background. A particularly important event in the world of music is unlikely to become a disc, but fans will be pleased. I don’t know how much we succeeded, but we wanted to make such a sound that I would not resemble either yesterday or the Supermodic Brooklyn Sound. ![]() |
![]() Jamie Lidell | Experimental Soul under the guidance of Beck Jamie Lidell has been on stage for more than ten years. During this time, he managed to get comfortable in Berlin, leave the techno to Soul and Funk, get a contract with Warp Records label and put Beck in place of the producer of his last “Compass” plate. In addition to the American singer, Feist also participated in the Wilco and Grizzly Bear groups. The case is not limited to the usual set of tools - Jamie uses his voice, minimizing it and distorting it in all possible ways. “Compass” is such a modernized second where broken bats and a torn structure with state gospels can be combined. Jamie has a fairly sensual vocal in order to claim the place of Otis Reading. The shadow of Bek does not stop flickering throughout the record, periodically leading Jamie towards the electronic blues. There are sufficiently experimental numbers, such as “You Are Walking” with buzzing guitar and vocal near Ozzy. By the way, the plate has nothing to do with technology, or with a techno, or with her colleagues. Be sure to visit the Jamie Lidell concert to understand how much joy this guy can give you. ![]() |
![]() Growing | Album Droun-Trio released on Vice label Left -handed Joe and Pravasha Kevin met at the beginning of the zero in Washington. Before that, they worked on their own projects, and then decided to join the efforts at the Noya and Embent front. After the release of the first album, the drummer left the group and until last year Growing was content with the format of the duet. Changing more than one musical label in their history, they stopped at Vice Records. Using the battery of guitar lotions, lups, all kinds of effects (description of the technical side of their performances occupies most of the Growing page on Wikipedia), the trio is beating over the creation of instrumental ambitis and drone diets similar to the Fuck Buttons recording. They definitely took the game lessons from Black Dice, except that they sound harder. ![]() |
