Yesterday in Moscow, which is ahead of the rest, the premiere of the new, 22nd Bond film, Quantum of Solace, took place. In London, the world premiere of Bond 22 was shown only a day earlier, but the film was immediately released there, but here we will have to wait until November 6.
So viewers have a chance to prepare. First of all, you need to watch the previous film, “Casino Royale,” where Daniel Craig first appeared as Bond. Otherwise, much of the plot of Quantum will remain incomprehensible, since Craig-Bond enters the new film literally from the ending of the previous film, and there is no one and no time to retell its plot.
The main thing is to remember the beauty Vesper, who captivated the gentle soul of the agent and betrayed him. At the end of the first episode she drowned. And Bond was terribly upset about all this, and in the new film he is driven not so much by his duty as a British intelligence officer, as he himself says, but rather by revenge. As we know, this dish should be cold, but not for a superhero whose warm heart has not yet cooled from loss, and whose hands, of course, are covered in blood... So, keep in mind that Vesper is the name of the girl who betrayed , but not out of love. It would be good to remember another name - Mr. White, the viewer will see him in the first frames, when after a completely dizzying chase (something like you need to take Aeron with you to the hall, this is tip number two) agent 007 opens the lid of the miraculously surviving trunk your Aston Martin. So, Mr. White is a member of a secret organization that has entangled the entire globe, because of whose intrigues Vesper committed suicide. Another character from the last film is Mathis, an MI6 agent, in the last film Bond turned him in as a traitor and was mistaken... But now Mathis, who has retired from business, but does not remember the evil, can help the agent find traces of a secret scam...
However, maybe all this is from the evil one. Modern cinema, and the big-budget Quantum is certainly the ideal of modern cinema, does not need to be understood. They need to be admired.
Casino Royale, which became the most commercially successful Bond film, showed the world a new look for Bond. An average blond, with a forgettable face, without the shine and chic characteristic of his predecessors. This is exactly what worked. A simple guy, certainly not a gentleman, turned out to be a new hero, and his imperfect face was perfectly remembered. Now they will go look at him anyway.
The fact that Daniel Craig is also an outstanding actor does not matter much anymore. It was in “Casino” that Bond had a role: he dreamed, hoped, was disappointed, flirted, shocked, bluffed, teased, embarrassed... In “Quantum” there is no time to be distracted by psychology. New Bond director Mark Foster took on the task of filming a real action movie and did. There are twice as many stunts in the new film. There are at least three chases in the film - by car, by boat and by plane... Earth, water, air... Fights - in the smoke and fire of a fire, on scaffolding inside a restored temple, in an elevator, on crumbling tiled roofs ... It's hard to tell who's beating who, but since we know exactly who's going to win, the details don't matter and the rhythm is exciting.
The pride of the producers was the abundance of filming locations. Along the way, Bond, pursuing the main villain named Green, an environmentalist by profession, and a villain by vocation, manages to visit literally everywhere - from Haiti to Kazan... It is snowing in Kazan, there are no passers-by on the streets, but there are a lot of British agents... Kazan, unlike Haiti, was filmed in England.
But the best scene of the film, in my opinion, takes place at the Vienna Opera. A huge hall with many thousands of seats, dress-dressers, ladies, an orchestra, several places on the stage at the same time, characters almost floating in the air, multimedia scenery - and the phrase thrown by a music lover after the members of a secret organization leaving the hall, frightened by Bond: “I I told you, “Tosca” is not for everyone!”
There is absolutely no time to worry about all these tricks, running around and falling. In the short pauses between actions, the characters joke. M and Bond do this especially well. The duet of Judi Dench and Daniel Craig is conducive to sophistication. And what exactly happens at this time is of little importance. Bond saves the world and takes a little personal revenge.
It is very likely that the third part will follow the second part, at least none of the storylines - if you manage to find the storyline - are completed. But it is absolutely not necessary to understand what actually happened behind the scenes, why Vesper committed suicide, what the mysterious organization will do now...
For Russian viewers, “Kvant” has a special bonus. Bond already had a Russian girl, but there were no actresses of Russian origin yet. Now there is. Patriots can be proud: Camilla, the daughter of a Bolivian and a Russian, Bond’s partner from Bolivian intelligence, played by Olga Kurylenko, an actress and model who has lived in Paris since the age of 16 and has graced the covers of every possible gloss, well, very, very pretty. And the only one in the Bond movie who doesn't sleep with Bond. And he doesn't even want to...
