| Spartak refused the Channel One Cup
Moscow's Spartak will not take part in the annual pre-season Channel One Cup tournament, which is held in Israel by the National Football Academy Foundation and sponsored by Roman Abramovich. Thus, the tournament will lose its main match “Dynamo Kyiv” - “Spartak”, the sign of which attracted the largest number of spectators. The leadership of the “red-whites” motivated their refusal by the fact that the team will only end the current season due to participation in the UEFA Cup on December 18, which means that the players will have too little time for vacation.
Initially, it was possible that this year the tournament would not be held at all due to the financial crisis. However, the organizers of the Channel One Cup decided not to abandon the competition, although they shortened its duration. This time the tournament will last less than a week - from January 26 to February 1 - and will consist of playoff games. Seven participants have already confirmed their participation - Zenit, Dynamo Moscow, CSKA, Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar, Metalist and Dnepr will come to Israel in January. The Samara “Wings of the Soviets” and the Kazan “Rubin” are vying for the last, eighth vacancy.
The day after the end of the tournament in Israel, a four-day training camp for the Russian national team will begin in Antalya, Turkey. The head coach of the Russian national team, Guus Hiddink, has already announced that he will invite not only the main players to Turkey, but also candidates for the country's Olympic team.
LeBron James breaks Bryant's records
Basketball. NBA. Regular season. Indiana - Atlanta - 113:96, Charlotte - Dallas - 83:100, Washington - Miami - 87:94, Orlando - Toronto -- 103:90, "Boston" -- "New York" -- 110:101, "New Jersey" -- "Cleveland" -- 82:106, "Memphis" -- "Sacramento" -- 109: 94, “Denver” – “Milwaukee” – 114:105, “Golden State” – “Portland” – 111:106, “Lakers” – “Chicago” – 116:110.
The productive play of LeBron James allowed Cleveland to win their 9th victory in 11 matches. This is one of the best results at the start of the current regular season. James scored 31 points in the match against New Jersey and became the most productive player on his team. But this is still slightly below his “norm”: LeBron is averaging 33.7 points, eight assists and six rebounds per game this season.
Such a productive game allows James to break NBA records. Yesterday he became the youngest basketball player in the history of the association to score 11 thousand points. Cleveland's leader overcame this milestone at the age of 23 years and 323 days. Kobe Bryant scored 11 thousand points when he was 25 years and 99 days old. Prepared by Andrey VDOVIN
