At the current motor rally along the Garden Ring - and I was an observer at the previous one as well - there were a lot more cars to see. So the protest excitement does not subside. There were also groups of people standing on the sidewalks waving something white. Cars honked, people shouted “Hurray” in response, and sometimes they literally threw caps into the air. The usual atmosphere of celebration and euphoria reigned at such events.
The people in the cars were friendly and waved in a friendly manner to the pedestrians. Some of whom wondered what was happening. One lady shouted: “Aren’t you tired of playing?” It was unclear - neither evil nor reproachful. She was answered by a girl holding a white teddy bear in her hands (there were a lot of toys, especially plush ones): “And young people always play.”
A game... This is what many blame on the style of protest - balls, toys, competitions for the best outfit. Like, not serious. Some kind of KVN. But for me, this is a peaceful political carnival that reduces the intensity of aggression, pacifies, and demonstrates - especially in contrast with Kurginyanovism and Shevchenkoism - adequacy, openness and transparency of views. And this is not immaturity, as many people think, this is the style of the times. Without animal seriousness, but quite consciously. After all, this is not only a fashion trend and, a kind of new entertainment. This is a demonstration of purity of intentions. White, not orange.
...To the side of the road, next to a group of women with white flowers and waving white ribbons, two ordinary policemen with machine guns came out. They stood silently on the sidewalk and looked at the line of cars with white sheets of paper pasted on, with white plastic bags, jammed doors, with blue buckets on the hood and Russian flags sticking out of the windows.
They stood silently and smoked. What were they thinking? Or – “Eh, if it were up to me, I would have all these clowns...” Or – “How many of them are there, normal people, just like us... And they all want to destroy the country in which they live?.. No, what’s going on here? -that’s not right - we need to figure it out...” Will we ever find out what they then talked about among themselves? What will they tell you at home in the evening?..
Someday, I think quite soon, we will find out about this...
