However, everything is relative: her head is half -wrapped, and a PEACHES Bruck hangs on her chest the size of half a meter. Nevertheless, she is extremely calm and even sweet. She was already 43, together with Chile Gonzales, she put her version of the opera Jesus Christ Superstar - “PEACHES CHRIST SUPERSTAR”, performing all the vocal parties on her own, and she had the fourth studio album “I Feel Cream” , provoked by the main persons of the independent dance scene - from Soulwax to Simian Mobile Disco . It is not surprising that the record was cordially accepted by the new generation of listeners, and with some bewilderment - old fans who still perceive it as one of the main stars of the end -of -end genre.
-Your last album is, definitely, a step towards pop music. Can you explain these changes?
It's funny: some people say that my music remained the same, while others - that it has completely changed. In fact, it only became more diverse. On I Feel Cream there are hardcore songs like Billionaire or Serpentine , and there are softer and relaxed topics. I always said that it is necessary to study the less obvious aspects of themselves. So now, when everyone knows how tough I can be, it is important for me to demonstrate my vulnerability from time to time.
- Your music has also become much more dance.
Yes, yes, I wanted to record a dance album, because I was always part of the world of dance music, but at the same time my works were not dance in the full sense of the word. In addition, I really sing on this album for the first time - in the songs Talk to Me , I Feel Cream and Lose You . It was funny only now to show people their secret weapons - singing.
- It is impossible not to pay attention to the list of people with whom you worked this time. Soulwax, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism , Drums of Death - they are all very hype, popular artists who could easily be on the same compilation without you. How do you explain such a choice of collaborators?
Well, actually, these are just the people whom I met, with whom I played a DJ-sites in the same places with whom we performed at the same parties and hanged out together. No, I did not call them with the words "Hello. My name is PEACHES! " On the previous album, Impeach My Bush , there were people like Joan Jett (American singer, musician, producer and actress. Best of all is known by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - approx. Ed.) , Josh Ommi from Queens of the Stone Age and Bet Ditto from Gossip . That is, all varieties of rock characters. And this time I just wanted to work with people from the dance scene. But they are all my friends. For example, I have been familiar with Soulwax for 12 years, they are magnificent producers and wonderful people. So the point is not only in the concept of the album.
- And how important is the concept in creativity for you?
Very important. I think it is obvious that the very idea of Peaches has grown from the original concept. Let sometimes this prevents me from developing further, I still consider myself a conceptual artist.
- How does the performance of PEACHES CHRIST SUPERSTAR , which you recently put with Gonzales fit into your concept, fit into your concept?
Everyone asked me about this performance: "What the hell are you doing?" Of course, the idea was important here that I fulfill all the vocal parties alone, but I also really love the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and I think that “Jesus Christ is a superstar” is a perfectly written musical. In addition, his idea is brilliant in itself: about a person and other people who do not understand that his intentions are kind, and that you can follow someone, while remaining a person, and not become a paranock and not turn away from people. You know, I'm not religious. I just see what is happening in politics, I see how wars begin, families collapse and social disasters occur. People do not believe each other. So I put this performance to indicate this fact.
Moreover, I am against an organized religion. I like God, I just don't like his Fanclux. I do not think that people need to somehow be organized so that they believe in anything. Everyone should have life values, and Christian values in this regard are not so bad. They just do not need to be imposed on anyone. Take Israel and Palestine, or Georgians and Russians - they are very similar. Even in Canada there are French Canadians who share separatist views. But all these ranges are ridiculous. The fact is that everyone wants to be individuals, they want to be themselves, but for this they need to get rid of fears, this is the whole problem. That's why it was necessary to fulfill all the roles from one face.
-You like what is happening now with the female pop-m ..

Certainly. You know, I went to Lady Gaga’s concert last week, and there I felt raped. In the creative sense.
- Maybe you envy a little?
Envy is not quite a suitable word. Of course, I would like to have so much money, because thanks to everything that she does, this money was multiplied and made so many people rich. Tonight, my little ideas, like the one when I have a crotch on the stage, and then turns into a huge faceover from a vagina, will see a thousand people, and 10 or 20 thousand will come to her show. I'm not so jealous, I am flattering, because when I saw her show, I thought: "Wow, but I was right." This is funny, but she is just a puppet. Even if she says that she is not a puppet, this is not so. In addition, when you become so famous, it becomes impossible to hide. It only remains that it is endless to give out interviews.
