MOD MAD 1990

More recently, the 1990 Moscow magazine magazine fell into my hands. Twenty years that have passed since the release of this publication have significantly changed many things in the fashion world. However, in something can easily find similarities with modernity.

Like any magazine, my find begins with a letter from the editor. The text of the letter is familiar: from the summer, readers are invited to start a new life, and above all to update the wardrobe, change the hairstyle, try on a new style, in this case by sea, and generally change the lifestyle.

It is noteworthy that the photograph accompanying the editor’s letter, in its mood and color, resembles the summer collection of Dolce & Gabbana 2011. But all the clothes presented in the magazine on models exclusively Russian origin!

The summer of the 90th, like the summer of 2011, promised to be complete colors. Among the prints there are peas, flowers, stripes. Mixing of fabrics and accessories was also considered the key to success.

For the Russian fashion at that time, the landmark was the fashion of Paris. It is demonstrated by several pages of the magazine, but designers are not indicated. Their names can only be seen behind the backs of the models or by learning the legendary bag 2.55. The riot of color is the same as this summer is expected.

"White is the most universal color for summer clothes." This phrase belongs to the article from the material "White for the hot summer." In 2011, designers are returning to this idea.

Models of that time are undoubtedly different from our models. Though their collarbones stuck in the same way, the type of models was slightly different. Clothes for adult ladies were accordingly demonstrated by women over thirty years old. Today, such a move would be unexpected, wasn't it?

But the model, which, as it seemed, is very much reminiscent of our beloved Agnes Dane.

Among the models, not only women are observed, but also men, and even so fashionable, dressed in Morsky!

And yet, no matter what irony today we relate to Soviet magazines, they are the ancestors of printed fashion in Russia, its founders. It is still unknown if we would hold in our hands our favorite Russian Vogue, Harper's Bazzar and Elle, if not for the Gosplan Magazine Mod.
