EXHIBITIONS
"After Painting" The exhibition invites you to immerse yourself in the space of “painting after painting,” which at the beginning of the 21st century continues to demonstrate vitality and amazing diversity. Mixing all genres and generations, the exhibition presents both paintings in the more traditional sense of the word, as well as artists' experiences that go beyond the boundaries of painting. The dialogue includes black works by Pierre Soulages, torn posters by Jacques Villeglé, spatial deformations of old techniques by Jean-Pierre Bertrand, Remy Zaugg's meticulous analysis of the painting "The House of the Hanged Man" by Paul Cézanne, the measurement of time by Rebecca Horn, three-dimensional "abstractions" by François Morellet and Claude Ruteau. As part of the Festival of Contemporary Art Collections. NCCA (Zoologicheskaya St., 13, building 2), until August 29.
Valentin Tkach. Vertigo. Topics of interest to the artist are the Soviet apocalypse and the theory of disasters. Developing an individual visual method, the artist turns to the cinematic technique of thrillers and psychological dramas. Vertigo (Latin for “dizziness”) is the effect of approaching, “sucking in” the background while the object being contemplated is motionless. Gallery "Start" at Winzavod (4th Syromyatnichesky Lane, 1, building 6), until September 10.
“Synaxis: a collection of religious paintings of Greece on wood and paper. 1450--2000.” The exhibition introduces the collection of the Greek merchant and philanthropist Emilios Velimisis, who amassed an outstanding collection of post-Byzantine icons, most of which are kept in the largest museum of Christian art in Athens, the Benaki Museum. Also presented are rare icons from the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Andrei Rublev Museum, icons from the collection that ended up in the Alexander S. Onassis Public Fund. The exhibition shows how humbly and delicately problems of coexistence can be resolved within the framework of a single “synaxis” of new and ancient, canonical and non-canonical. A separate section is dedicated to artists of the 20th century, offering their versions of interpretation of eternal themes. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts , until September 26.
"The whole world is a theater..." Engravings from the collection of M.F. Larionova.
