Students, graduates and teachers of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) addressed the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, chairman of the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation Alexander Kalyagin and rector of the educational institution Grigory Zaslavsky with a request to clarify the reasons for the unification of the production and theater faculties of the university. This is stated in an open letter published on the network. Hundreds of people put their signatures under the message.
On the eve of Zaslavsky, TASS told TASS that it was decided to unite the production and theater faculties of the institute on the scientific council. According to the rector, the association of two faculties "is due to the fact that almost all Russian festivals are supervised by theatrical critics," so people of this profession need knowledge and production.
“It seemed to me that it was necessary to meet the trends that reflect life,” the rector said, adding that at the time he studied in GITIS, these two faculties were united. "The unification of faculties is not a merger, not a confusion, not some reform. People as well as studied and will study, we will just adjust some programs," Zaslavsky emphasized.
As stated in an open letter, the pedagogical composition, dean, students of both faculties learned "about this radical reform" from the news. The authors of the Message note that the scientific council, who voted for such a decision, did not have managers, heads of departments and leading teachers of the two faculties mentioned.
“Moreover, the vote was held at the moment when the dean of the theater faculty Natalya Sergeevna Pivovarova is in the sick leave after a heavy accident,” the letter said.
The authors of the appeal refer to the charter of the university, which says that "students have the right to take part in the discussion and resolving the most important issues of GITIS." Students and teachers who signed the letter believe that "the merger of two multidirectional faculties is a categorically unreasonable solution," since "the production faculty is preparing organizers and managers, theaters' - scientists."
In addition to the explanations from the rector of GITIS ZASLEVSKY, the authors of the letter also require a re -collection of the Academic Council in full force with the participation of teachers and students "interested in the fate of their faculties."
Meanwhile, the rector of the University Grigory Zaslavsky, commenting on RBC the claims put forward by the authors, said that they "focus on personal attitude." According to the rector, the critic of the unification of the theater and producer faculties of GITIS is directed specifically against him. The signing appeals "do not think about the origins of the decision and do not delve into the arguments," he emphasized.
According to the head of the university, the unification of faculties is an ordinary administrative decision that will not significantly change the life of students and teachers. Students have no right to participate in the discussion of the association, the rector added.
It should be noted that GITIS's charter enshrines the rights of students to appeal any local acts at the institute, as well as to participate "in the formation of the content of their vocational education", if it is not limited by the terms of the training agreement.
Before the decision on the eve of the decision in GITIS there were eight faculties: directorial, acting, music theater, theater, choreographer, scenographic, pop and production.
