Queen vouches for a new Guns n'Roses album to arrive this year
One of the strangest and most long-awaited projects in rock music - Chinese Democracy of the mega-popular band Guns n'Roses in the early 90s, it seems, will finally be realized. At the moment, none of the original members remain in the team, and in fact this is a solo project of its vocalist Axl Rose.The album has been in the planning stage for ten years now. During this time, Rose promoted his record company to the tune of about $10 million. Such a budget was adequate for the stars of the 80s (which, in fact, were Guns n'Roses, who released platinum albums Appetite for Destruction, Use Your Illusion I & II and many hit singles), but by today's standards it is a real disaster. The result is so far the song Oh My God from the movie “End of Days” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and several performances at rock festivals with new material. Just a couple of years ago, Chinese Democracy appeared in Universal's release plans. But last year there was information that the label would terminate the contract with Rose altogether: the project, in which a lot of famous session musicians were involved, had already cost a lot of money, which would not be easy to “recoup”, even taking into account the army of Guns fans that has survived from the 90s n'Roses and if Chinese Democracy will be the “album of the century”. However, the company's bosses do not believe this - many have long suspected that the result of all this rigmarole will be zero.
Rose doesn't let anyone listen to anything at all, and according to some session musicians who are hired and fired, almost no work happens in expensive studios. All “creative” exists in the form of sketches.
But it seems that Chinese Democracy will be released after all, and confirmation of this came from a completely unexpected quarter, namely from the group Queen. More precisely, from their official website queenonline.com, where it is reported that Queen guitarist Brian May recorded several parts back in 1998, but it is still unclear whether “they will be included in the album.” Axl Rose is also quoted here as saying that “people will hear the new material this year.” Moreover, what people hear should come as a surprise: “I’m trying to do something different from myself. Some arrangements even sound like Queen. Someone will probably say: “This doesn’t sound like Axl Rose, this doesn’t sound like Guns n’ Roses...” But you’ll definitely like a couple of songs!”
