Tomsk scientists are working on a medicine that can restore the body. The substance was developed by scientists from the Research Institute of Pharmacology. It stimulates the production of stem cells. Vadim Zhdanov, deputy director for scientific work of the institute, told Rush Hour journalists about this.
Stem cells are responsible for the restoration of the human body; they are present in all organs. But with age there are fewer of them. The substance developed by Tomsk scientists, which in the future will be included in the “G5” drug, increases the “release” of stem cells, thus activating the regeneration of the body.
The drug has not yet been tested in humans. So far, only mice have tried the component of the future drug G5. Animals with pulmonary fibrosis were divided into two groups: some received the drug, others did not. The first results will be ready in two months. However, scientists have already tested the substance on mice infected with hepatitis. After taking the drug, the development of the disease in animals stopped.
“Theoretically, it can be assumed that the use of the drug will accelerate the course of recovery processes in different organs. There are no analogues in terms of the mechanism of action, since the substance acts on a wide range of stem cells,” the scientist told reporters.
After scientists published the first research results, the media started talking about a “youth pill” invented in Tomsk. They also said that the scientific secretary of the Research Institute of Pharmacology, Gleb Zyuzkov, tried the drug on himself. As the scientist clarified to journalists, he did not try the pill, but after the publication, hundreds of letters from those who wanted to be forever young “fell” into his email.
Let us add that testing of the drug in humans will begin only in a year. "G5" may appear in pharmacies in three years. According to scientists, with the help of the medicine, people will be able to get rid of chronic hepatitis and the initial stage of liver cirrhosis. At the same time, the price for the "G5" should be affordable.
