Seventy Tomsk residents gathered at the Epiphany Cathedral to pray that abortions in Russia would be stopped. This was reported on the website of the Tomsk diocese.
The prayer service was performed by the head of the diocesan Department for Social Service and Charity, Archpriest Nikolai Abramov, and the cleric of the Epiphany Cathedral, Priest Vyacheslav Perkov.
“Human life is priceless. Christ sanctified man while still in the womb of His Mother, He sanctified the birth of man - being born on earth, He sanctified the life of man - while living on earth, He sanctified the death of man - having accepted death on the cross and suffering, He sanctified the burial of man - being buried in a cave before Resurrection,” the diocese website quotes Archpriest Nikolai Abramov as saying.
The priest called on everyone to offer a prayer to God for the murdered babies, a prayer for repentance for the sin of abortion, a prayer for an end to this terrible evil.
It is noted that every Sunday in all churches of the city of Tomsk the all-Russian campaign “Marathon for a Million” is held - collecting signatures for the ban on abortion, the initiator of this collection is the all-Russian movement “For Life”. Moreover, in the diocese, every woman who has refused an abortion can receive help at the diocesan family assistance center “Let's Help Together.”
