An armed attack on a cash-in-transit vehicle took place yesterday in the north of Moscow. The loot of the robbers was 15 million rubles. and 5 thousand dollars intended for the Mir company, the owner of the capital’s largest chain of stores selling household appliances. The collector himself, who was transporting the money, a 31-year-old head of the security service of the Mir company, was not injured. According to information from the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, he appeared at the Sokol police station and said that in the morning the management asked him to transport money to pay salaries to employees from the MDM Bank branch on Marshal Rybalko Street to the company’s office on Viktorenko Street. The security guard received the money from the bank and drove it away in his Ford Taurus. Around noon, already at the entrance, on Novopeschanaya Street, a foreign car was cut off by a Zhiguli, from which two men jumped out with pistols. According to the robbed, the criminals were “Slavic in appearance, one of them had glasses, the other had a beard.” After shooting out the car's wheels and threatening them with weapons, the robbers took all the money and fled. The city introduced the “Interception” operational plan, but the traces of the robbers were already lost.
