The regular readers of our newspaper could notice: if there is no time to read the theater review in the “Culture” strip, you look at the picture. And the picture is so intricate that you yourself will not notice, as you will begin to read the review. And you will not regret it. Most published in the newspaper Theater Pictures belong to Viktor Bazhenov, the famous photographer, winner of Interpress Photo, who opened these days a personal exhibition in the halls of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia on a passionate boulevard.

Viktor Bazhenov by education art critic. Like the author of these lines, he graduated from Moscow State University (Department of History of Art of the History Faculty).

The graduates of our department have always been contempt with contempt for the qualifications that we were assigned to us in a diploma by the decision of the State Examination Commission: “Art critic”. What is this nonsense? How can you know art? What are we, clericalists or accountants or what? Petersburg professor Sergei Daniel called his wonderful book about the abilities of the visual perception of “The Art of See”. So, the Russian theater of recent decades, by his unspoken decision, appropriated the qualification of the “artist” to Viktor Bazhenov.

Talking about how theatrical scales are directed by the view of the photographer is completely pointless. It’s like retelling the nyakroshus beloved by Bazhenov’s “Hamlet” on the words and fingers. We only note that in the portraits of the beloved people of the theater (Petra Fomenko, Konstantin Raikin, Yuri Lyubimov, Leo Dodin, the same Aimuntas Nyakroshyus), Bazhenov should be the creative credo of Kiprensky: “Hold the best faces”. To spy, exposing weaknesses is low. This is not for him.

At the exhibition in the STD, the best, in the opinion of the artist, in recent years, will be presented in the pandan of the “golden mask” in the other day. Bazhenov’s plans to make a large retrospective where the main character will be the time: three ages Lyubimov (before leaving Russia, the 80th anniversary and the recent 85th anniversary), two ages of Dodin, Salieri Tabakov in the early 80s and in the late 90s ...
