However, when shortly before the unfortunate performance, we met with a half group in the tea in Gorky Park, it could never have occurred to anyone, how the evening would end. Daniel and the world look very tired: they only flew from America yesterday after an exhausting joint tour from The Fain, and spent all today at VDNH, examining the socialist architecture. Daniel monotonously answers the questions in a low, slightly mechanical voice, and the world repeats every phrase twice, as if she is not sure that she is heard.

- With the transition to the major and the release of "Witching Hour" you have become a completely different group. What made you change the sound so much?

Daniel Hunt: I do not think that we have become a different group, we only added several new layers for our music. We have been in the tour in support of the second album for a very long time and began to relate to the living sound much more creatively; Tired of just standing with a laptop and be a background. If we recorded "Lights and Magic" after that tour, then it would be much more like "Witching Hour".

Mira of Araio: Besides, each new album is always compared with the previous one ..

Daniel Hunt: When Lights and Magic came out, many said that it sounds completely different than "604", although others said that it sounds exactly the same. All this is absolutely subjective.

-Most of the electroclash team, with whom you were compared at the beginning of the 00s, remained in clubs. Why did you exchange clubs for Rock Arena?

Mira of Arao: Few of those groups released four albums each.

Daniel Hunt: most of them have not released two. In addition, their albums mainly consisted of a pair of steep club tracks and a heap of empty. From the very beginning, we were a completely different group, although we were put on one row with them.

Mira of Arao: Most of those other groups were not even in groups in the full sense of the word, these were DJ projects: one person and producer.

Daniel Hunt: We are not from the club party, all of us have an indi-rock past. We grew up on the music of Sterelab and My Bloody Valentine. And, although we did and did remixes, for us, it was never the main one. At the same time, we do not nostalgic and do not make a fetish from a certain sound. We are not fans of the 80s or something like that.

- You worked on Velocifero with Vicarious Bliss with Ed Banger. Who else of the new producers would you like to cooperate with?

Daniel Hunt: I don’t know if we want to work with someone at all. We like what we have achieved with Alessandro Kortini - he did much more than Vicarious Bliss. He practically became another member of the group, which is cool. But we never needed a producer, we always did everything ourselves. You know, if you are a co-producer, then you do not bear any responsibility to someone. The bottom line is that this is more a collaboration, but they always want to be indicated in the booklet as co-producers.

Mira of Araio: In the same way, we worked with Jim Abiss, who helped us record Witching Hour, although he makes a much more classic sound than Vicarious Bliss.

Daniel Hunt: We are not going to work with someone who thinks that he knows the group better than ourselves. It is best when someone just comes up with a certain element, a certain approach, then we will ask him to help. So far, such collaborations are more interested in us than traditional relations group/producer, in which we have never been. In addition, now, when producing has become available to almost everyone, this process has become even more like our work method.

- But now you yourself are producing the new songs of Christina Agilers. For many, this news was a big surprise ..

Daniel Hunt: She herself asked us about it. This is especially cool, because usually if a large artist wants to achieve a certain sound, he is given a producer who simply copies him. But Christina decided that she did not need it; She wanted that the same artists who like her were present on the record. This is her idea, not label. She asked Sia, Goldfrapp about this, us ..

- Do many artists ask you about such services?

Daniel Hunt: No, this is the first time, although perhaps in the future we will do this more.

“One of the songs on Velocifero, Deep Blue, is about a chess supercomputer, which was disassembled immediately after winning Harry Kasparov. Do you think IBM chewed, how did he say, or did Deep Blue honestly won?

Mira of Arao: Actually, the song is not about that, it is much more abstract. But I did not know that Kasparov said so. However, whoever stood behind Deep Blue, he beat Kasparova. True, I'm not sure if it could be some other grandmaster who played at a distance, the Internet was already there, but ..

Daniel Hunt: Yes, of course they could do it remotely. But for sure it was several people at once, and not some supernight.

- Then on whose side in the war between people and cars will you be?

Daniel Hunt: On the side of people, I suppose .. but I think the cars will spare me.

Mira Arayo: And I have no friends among cars.

“Didn't people confuse you with robots when you wore a uniform?”

Daniel Hunt: If we were cars, we would not need it.

Mira of Araio: We wore uniform not to be like a car, we wore it in order to identify us as a group. We feel like a gang, and all gangs have our own uniform.

Daniel Hunt: In 2002, it seemed important, but now no.

Mira of Arao: There is always a future.

Daniel Hunt: The future, which was predicted in 1976, has already occurred.

Mira of Arao: Well, not all. We do not live in heavenly cities.

Mira of Arao: This is impossible to predict. What seemed impossible 10 or 5 years ago has already happened. A year ago, people could not predict what is happening with the world now. No one knew that the banking system would fall apart.

- Mira, in one interview you said that when you worked in a genetic laboratory, invented quite a lot of bacteria. Tell me about your beloved.

Mira of Arao: I have no beloved, but most often I had to work with a yogurt bacterium Bacterium vicaricus. You know, if you are a scientist, then you have to cross different strains of bacteria daily in order to force them to perform certain functions. I made sure that different strains form such large sausages, instead of breaking up into separate cells.

- Is it more interesting than to be in the group?

Mira of Araio: This is completely different, but I will hardly begin to do it again.
