| Sober “Mitki” sailed to the “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk” Artists and poets in vests brought an exhibition of their paintings and books to the city of Marc Chagall. The “Mitkovo” exposition took place in the city hall. The ideologist of the most famous Russian informal movement, the big bearded artist Dmitry Shagin, said that the “Mitkovs” were invited to Vitebsk under the patronage of a Belarusian journalist. It’s quite unexpected to see such artists at such a festival, but the St. Petersburg funnymen themselves feel more than comfortable here. Dmitry Shagin said that he and several other “Mitki” ended up in Vitebsk... by rafting down the river on a raft made of plastic bottles. And there was a reason. - You do not strive for commercial success. How then do you exist in our time?
- Yes, our earnings are irregular. Once upon a time, we all had permanent jobs. For example, I served in a boiler room, even two. In St. Petersburg, many people worked in boiler houses. I was fired already in 1978, because the magazine “Yunost” wrote that “Mitki” in boiler rooms were drinking vodka and committing outrages. Now I don’t work anywhere, I’m my own boss. —You starred in the budget television series “National Security Agent.” How did you get there and how much did you get paid?
— They paid, of course, something... But we are actually against commercialization, we don’t need anything. We didn't act in the film for the money. This is the story. In 1992, the film “The City” was made about a guy who works in a boiler room and tries to break into the people. In particular, he comes to Mitki with some of his paintings, and I tell him: “Brother, your painting is shitty.” - “So maybe I can rewrite the background?” - “So rewrite it, yeah, bro, rewrite the background, something else there...” So everything, in a good way. So, the episode from “The Agent”, in which this same agent Nikolaev infiltrates us into our midst with the help of a film, is a remake of the corresponding episodes from “The City”.
- Who invited you to the series? “Mitki” and TV series are incompatible things.
-- The fact is that the guy who played the limiter in “The City” turned out to be the director of the series “National Security Agent.” Well, he called us. And everything was almost the same as ten years ago. True, there was a sea of vodka on the set then, but not now.
- Serious work? Or do you not drink at all now?
