On the eve of the holiday on White Lake, workers carved out two baptismal fonts. The thickness of the ice this year is 60 centimeters, Rush Hour reports.
To access the swimming area, workers built three ice arches, next to them were tents for changing clothes, which were twice as large as last year.
“The place itself is fenced with fir trees that have already served their lives for the New Year. Now they help us conduct Epiphany bathing - they serve as a kind of protection from the wind, decoration and at the same time a fence so that people do not randomly approach the fonts, but everything is organized,” said event organizer Andrei Semukhin.
After Epiphany bathing, the organizers will offer Tomsk residents to drink hot tea or coffee and try the ancient Russian drink sbiten.
Let us add that Epiphany bathing will begin on White Lake after the Archbishop of Tomsk and Asinovsky consecrates the fonts at 13:00, January 19.
