What is more important the image of medicine or the health and life of a child? This issue is of concern today to those who are involved in raising money and assistance in the expensive treatment of Russian children. The country's chief pediatric oncologist, Vladimir Polyakov, accused charitable foundations of discrediting Russian medicine. On the eve of World Cancer Day, Polyakov spoke out against children with cancer being sent abroad for treatment. According to Polyakov, there are no such cases when a child was declared incurable in Russia, and after that he would recover abroad. And raising money for the treatment of children by charitable foundations, as a pediatric oncologist at the Ministry of Health said, is pure speculation.
