At the end of last week, the media reported a sharp deterioration in the health of the head of the Western District Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation of Moscow, Pavel Basants, who claims that at the beginning of the month he was poisoned with an unknown poison. His party comrades adhere to the same version. According to the communist, threats against him began to come after late last year at a ceremonial meeting of veterans of the Foreign Intelligence Service in Lubyanka, where he called the Russian president “a traitor to the officer’s honor, oath and his people.”
Pavel Basanets served for many years in the KGB and foreign intelligence. He was engaged in intelligence activities at the same time as Vladimir Putin in Dresden. And in 1980, Comrade Basanets received gratitude from KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov for his work at the Olympics in Moscow.
In 2003, when Comrade Basanets was running for State Duma deputy, he was attacked. And recently, a former intelligence officer called for the release of Vladimir Kvachkov, accused of an attempt on the life of Anatoly Chubais, as well as lawyer and former FSB colonel Mikhail Trepashkin.
A few weeks ago, Pavel Basanets became famous again when the Central Control and Audit Commission (CCRK) of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation accused him and the editor of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation website Anatoly Baranov of planning a “neo-Trotskyist conspiracy.” The Chairman of the Central Control and Audit Commission (CCRK) of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) persistently pushes the Communist Party of the Russian Federation from the victorious Leninist path to the false Trotskyist path of a quick revolution, carried out in fact in the interests of the pro-Western bourgeoisie, and not the Russian people, and leading to the complete occupation of Russia by NATO forces." ideas of “fighting witches” on the eve of the Duma elections.
Now, after the death of ex-FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko from polonium poisoning, a story has emerged about the possible poisoning of another former intelligence officer. Basants’ comrade in the “neo-Trotskyist conspiracy” Anatoly Baranov also adheres to the version that poison was used against the communist. “Pavel Basanets himself is a graduate of a specialized educational institution, where they study, among other things, the effects of various poisons,” said Comrade Baranov. - And according to the clinical picture, the version of poisoning came to his mind quite early. On the contrary, I, having a medical education, did not consider it possible to voice the version of poisoning until infectious and domestic causes for the deterioration of his health were ruled out. Today, highly qualified specialists exclude these reasons almost completely. I can testify that Basanets’ condition continues to deteriorate, he has lost weight, has no appetite, and can hardly eat anything. Weakness is progressing, and now symptoms of cardiovascular disease have also appeared.”
Although the Communist Party notes that Pavel Basanets has always been in good health, the party leaders have not yet officially decided to announce the poisoning of their comrade.
