| Dementieva will miss Wimbledon
Semi-finalist of Wimbledon 2009, fifth racket of the world, Russian Elena Dementieva will not compete at the third Grand Slam tournament of the season, Wimbledon. The reason for this decision was the injury suffered by the athlete during the recent French Open tennis championship. It was health problems that did not allow Dementieva to reach the final of Roland Garros 2010. The Russian woman was unable to finish the match with Italian Francesca Schiavone, who eventually won the championship title.

In the Dutch town of 's-Hertogenbosch, the fight between Russian Maria Kirilenko and Belgian Kirsten Flipkens ended early. Having lost the first set - 3:6, in the second with the score 3:3 Kirilenko refused to continue the fight, citing injury.
