| Microsoft has improved core programs Microsoft Corporation presented its new product in Russia - the Russian version of the Microsoft Office System software package. According to the developers, the program offers modern ways of organizing work and radically new opportunities in the field of corporate governance. “Over the 13 years that have passed since the release of the first version of Microsoft Office, this package has evolved from a set of disparate applications for editing texts and maintaining simple spreadsheets into a powerful integrated system for working with information that can completely transform the activities of any organization and make it much more efficient. and productive,” says Olga Dergunova, head of Microsoft’s representative office in Russia and the CIS. True, Microsoft does not hide the fact that the new product also has disadvantages, the main one being incompatibility with operating systems other than Windows.
A preliminary study commissioned by Microsoft by the analytical company Navigant Consulting showed that the new “office” saves about two hours. Unfortunately, it was not possible to verify this information - company representatives allocated only 10 minutes to journalists to get acquainted with the new product. However, some features of the work of the next brainchild of the world-famous corporation were still found out. At first glance, Microsoft Office 2003 retains the interface familiar from previous versions of the package. Significant changes, and not only in design, have occurred in the Outlook email program. Microsoft decided to offer its users a number of important new products. First, the personal data manager and email program acted as a single control center for email, calendars, contacts, and other personal information. Secondly, the new version improves the efficiency of user interaction. For this purpose, a service such as selective editing is offered: with its help, you can set different levels of access to text - from the ability to make adjustments to a certain paragraph to a complete ban on formatting and printing.
According to experts, some Microsoft innovations still have significant limitations. For example, if a letter with obviously restricted access is received by the owner of another operating system (not Windows), he will have to perform more than one action before he can even read it. In such cases, you need to either install the appropriate program, or, if you already have a previous version of Microsoft Office, go to the company’s website and upgrade it. According to the company, Microsoft is actively negotiating with developers of other operating systems to provide code so that this service will be available to their clients. The company does not say how successful these negotiations are.
In Russia, Microsoft Office 2003 will be available for purchase in mid-December. Company representatives have not yet announced the exact cost of the product, assuring that it will not differ much from the price of previous versions.
