“As long as the state allows itself to interfere in the affairs of literature, literature has the right to interfere in the affairs of the state”
Joseph Brodsky
Sometimes it seems to me that being born at such a time is great luck and a great chance. There is no war, thank God, but there is stupidity, bigotry, vulgarity, hypocrisy, servility and whoredom that are familiar to us - in assortment. All this is so close, so uncovered, that it is impossible not to notice and almost impossible not to react. But, in my opinion, this whole socio-political den has its advantages!
Where, if not here and under such circumstances, is it pleasant and simple for a person to make a decision: “I don’t want this. I want and will live differently”? When, if not now, having overcome anger and suppressed the feeling of nausea from the next amphorae and parsley, can you exhale with relief and say: “God be with you, you stupid king and hello to your whole gang and don’t get sick”?
And then add with a smile: “Evil, stupid people, okay, continue to ban DDT concerts.” These musicians will no longer be forgotten, but you are a temporary phenomenon. Yes, so temporary that even if you cover the whole country with your portraits, they will forget about you. But Yuri Shevchuk will not be forgotten - because he is important to us and time, and you are not!” To put it this way, forget all the herostrati and go do good deeds with faith in man and humanity.
In general, I live in good times. I like.
