The Stanislavsky Foundation presented awards and opened the festival
“Stanislavsky Season” is one of the youngest Moscow festivals: it was held for the first time last year. (The Stanislavsky Prize, awarded by the same foundation, is ten years older than him.) But, perhaps, the most impeccable - the program is completely free of “garbage” brought in by the winds of the market. This year the festival began with Mindaugas Karbauskis's performance in the "Snuffbox" - "The Tale of the Seven Hanged Men" (it was shown yesterday), and will continue on Wednesday and Thursday with "Faust" by Eimuntas Nyakrosius. On Saturday they will play “A Streetcar Named Desire,” made by Henrietta Yanovskaya at the Youth Theater, and next week the St. Petersburg Maly Drama Theater will come to Moscow with Dodin’s “King Lear.” The program will end with Sergei Zhenovach’s performance “A Seedy Family” (theater “Studio of Theater Arts”) and a video screening of Ingmar Bergman’s play “In the Presence of a Clown.” Thus, the program contains works by past laureates (Karbauskis - 2004, Nyakrosius - 2001, Dodin - 1996, Zhenovach - 1997 and 2005) and current winners.
The choice of this year's laureates is so indisputable that when their list was read out at the press conference, the journalists did not ask a single question. No one was surprised and everyone was pleased by the awarding of Henrietta Yanovskaya for directing, Rosa Khairullina (Kazan Youth Theater) and Igor Yasulovich (Moscow Youth Theater) for acting work in recent years, Veniamin Filshtinsky (St. Petersburg) and Alexander Galko (Saratov) for their contribution to theater pedagogy, Yulia Borisova and Yuri Yakovlev for his contribution to the development of Russian theater, Ingmar Bergman and Vladas Bagdonas (actor Nyakrosius, we will see him in the title role in Faust) - for their contribution to the development of world theater. In addition to the people who create the theatre, the people who record this theater on paper were not forgotten - the laureates were Elena Polyakova for her book about Stanislavsky and Marina Dyvydova for “The End of the Theater Era” - the most lively book about the dramatic theater published in the last ten years. And for the first time, the award had the “Novation” nomination, and Dmitry Krymov was awarded for the play “Donkiy Hot” at the “School of Dramatic Art” theater.
However, exactly one question was asked at the press conference: it was about the new format of video screening - it was understood that everyone would like to see Bergman's performances live (those who wish will be able to watch the film on December 3 at the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel). The answer from Oleg Tabakov (artistic director of the festival), however, was expected: “We proceed from property opportunities.” That is, there is no money for Bergman yet. But the organizers were so grateful to those who helped organize the festival - the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography, the Committee on Culture of the Moscow Government and the Government of the Moscow Region - that maybe next time they will?
