British researchers released the statistics of human bites. It is published in the English magazine Emergency Medicine Journal . True, only those bites were investigated, the results of which were forced to correct plastic surgeons. For three years, one of the Irish hospitals led this statistics.
According to Washington Profile , people bite mainly on weekends and holidays - 70%of such bites. Probably, this trend is explained by the state of alcohol (86% of cases) or narcotic (12%) intoxication in “biting” patients or their victims. Actually, the authors of the report directly stated that human bites are behavior, most often provoked by alcohol. Most of the bitten patients fell into the hospitals late at night after a drunken fight. It is especially noted that men become victims almost 12 times more often than women (92% of men).
A serious difference between a person and a dog was revealed in the manner of applying bites. People, as a rule, dig into the heads of their opponents, and, having reached their heads, bite the ear most often, which was noted in more than half of cases.
In each of the five cases, the bitten ones were too late for medical help, as a result of which they needed disinfection or even plastic surgery.
The most famous history associated with such bites recalls Washington Profile, is a boxing match between heavyweight Mike Tyson and Evander Holifield in 1997. Then the playing Tyson bit off Holifield part of the ear (later it was sewn back).
