According to the cow, differently before the harvesting, the map of America, or rather in her south, a string of toy cars briskly moves. Inside the first is a familiar “dogville”, but a slightly younger and more serious girl in Grace furs (Bryce Dallas Howard), her changed intelligent -sensitive dad (Willem Defo). Long short, but the motorcade stops at the type of half-converged iron fence almost like from Transylvania, and the absence of his gate gives a reason to the impressionable Grace to command his father and his gangsters of the feet.

Almost immediately, her supports are justified: a black woman runs up to the car window and begins to call for help. After a couple of minutes, the reason for the absence of the gate is also clarified. A black black man was tied to the iron loops, and the white farmer with all the honest people (namely, with the remaining 11 blacks and three or four farmers), it whips him in the best traditions of the ending of Spartak. Using the power of the Thompson assault rifle and the head of the head of the headgans, the father, Grace suppresses the lawlessness, after which the indignant white farmers explain that for some reason she stopped the "ordinary punishment of the slave." And between the matter, the yard has long been the twentieth century, and slavery has been canceled as for 60 years. Grace gives all this tirade to the old woman under the code name Maam, who pits from her mansion with an old gun, after which, under the angry speech of the indignant, Grace falls almost dead.

Almost, because death overtakes her in front of the main character in his bed. In a whisper, she urgently advises her to find a certain book under the mattress and immediately destroy it, which, of course, gives rise to the exact opposite reaction in the curious Grace. All these more than strange circumstances clearly show Grace that this town should urgently take into his own hands, and everything in him is brought to life. Using the kindness of her father, she loses several of his "people" to her side.

She even manages to get his personal lawyer, citing the fact that only he can humanly draw up documents for each ex-collage and allocate plots of land, work, etc., without making them victims of crooks and white. Looking at the whole enthusiasm of his indefatigable daughter, the father and the rest leave. According to the story of the Madelogue Negra Wilhelm (Danny Glover), who was in his “that life” by the servant Maam, all the slaves in the manterle, who is something like a gym plantation with one residential dilapidated mansion, where Maj and her family lived in miserable barracks in two, or even three. They had breakfast, dined and dinner, they strictly in Kommande, and went only where the owner would say.

In a word, it will be extremely difficult for them to start a new life. However, all these stories did not bother the stubborn Grace at all. To introduce a certain democracy, she began to organize meetings at which, through voting, certain issues or problems of plantation were resolved.

This could neither give a result: once the amorphous slaves of Manderle began to enthusiastically relate to one or another work. Moreover, gradually they even managed to work side by side with their former owners, who, after the skillful work of the lawyer Father Grace, remained, to the joy of Grace, almost without pants.
Time passed. Life in Manderley began to gradually improve. Work on the construction of the city Kipel.

Maam Forest was sawn for repairing dwellings, roads were removed, and even cotton fields were planted almost on time. But, of course, everything could not be so simple. A dusty storm began. She came from nowhere. No one deliberately called her. She actually came before, but then Mam Forest defended the plantation from her. And now there is nowhere to wait for salvation. There is no forest. The storm passed. There are no crops. The dwellings are destroyed. The food is spoiled. And the adulpsy begins to rot very slowly and leisurely. Suddenly someone's child gets pneumonia. It gradually turns out that someone is stealing all the food left for him by the window. This leads to the death of the girl, and the thief is immediately found. And the community is decided on the vote, which puts before Grace the first doubt about the correctness of not only his democracy, but throughout America.

Manderlai is the second film in the trilogy trilogy under the general name "America - the country of opportunities" and this is most likely the second picture of the cycle is revealed most widely. Having preserved the Dogville style of the template effect and the genre transmission, leaving all the same as the decorations of the plantation of the well, three beds of the barracks, the dining table and the “mansion”, which is predetermining two and a half column, the screw staircase to the second floor with one single bed and a nightstand on it, the trier began to show the conventions method very safely and sharply shown sharply and sharply show The path that, if in a good way, the Americans themselves do not open very much and strive. The problem of slavery in America is known and “relevant” will always be, whoever says there. The division of white and black into different rights at different times will invariably beat the skull with a hammer who dares to think "well, and the fig with them. What is the difference: Black or white." And Trier, being a well -known provocateur, clearly and brilliantly shows how he can brazenly and smugly prescribe an alternative version of the development of blacks in America on a fictitious stage.

It is not surprising that almost all the actors in the film who played slaves were British, and the Americans criticized the film in all respects. This is quite logical. It is quite difficult to represent a more vile topic, namely the rights of African Americans in the United States. And even more so, the director’s act is brilliant: to make a whole trilogy about American life with an ultra -pacific name. In general, it is incredibly difficult to make a movie about the rights and equations of blacks. To do this adequately, observing all the canons and at the same time, probably no one can give up their considerations. They scolded even Grisham and Schumacher for the "time to kill", where this topic is presented most vividly and controversial, such as "and his own and strangers." Probably, for this you need to be an indigenous American, and preferably an African American. Most likely, only Spike Lee from time to time gets into the right direction.
But Trier would not be trier so that he would not be considered generally accepted canons. He easily began this topic, so easily and even skillfully drew from her, which is very clearly demonstrated at the end of the film, when the frightened Grace runs out of Menderle in horror. Not that he, like her, was afraid of reaction ...

Rather, he recognizes that inevitability of America’s positions, which both lived, and will live the priorities of protecting the rights and freedoms of its African Americans, sexual minorities, women, pregnant women and so on. No, Trier does not hates it. He just doesn't need it. He does not need America at all. It is somehow better at home ...
