Amedeo Modigliani Amedeo - Italian painter, sculptor, graphic.
He belonged to the Paris School. Born in Livorno on July 12, 1884. He began to study painting in 1898 at the workshop of sculptor Gabriela Micheli. Since 1902 he has been engaged in the "Free Drawing School of Naked Nature" at the Florentine Academy of Arts.

Since 1906, he settled in Paris, where he took lessons at the Academy of Painting Kolarossi. In 1907, he first showed his work in the “Autumn Salon”, since 1908 he was exhibited in the “Independent Salon”. In the Rotonda cafe on the Boulevard Montparnas, where writers and artists gathered, Modigliani was in the circle of friends who, like him, were of art problems.

A particularly important role in the formation of the individual style of Modigliani was also played by his passion for African sculpture, its rude, but expressive forms and a clean line of the silhouette; At the same time, the art of native Italy and, above all, Botticelli's drawings, the painting of Trechento and masterfully complex graphics of the mannerists are sources of inspiration of the master. The most fully revealed the complex talent of Modigliani in the portrait genre.
