About the project

We are a team of independent investigative journalists, reporting on corruption in North-West Russia.

We create honest investigations based on open data (government procurement, real estate and legal entity registries) about how our officials actually spend taxes, who holds senior positions in state-owned companies, and how the successes and achievements of individuals are related to their relatives and money. We believe that only by making these crimes public can corruption be defeated.

The chronicle is created by professionals. We know and understand the context of the Russian North-West. Our team consists of people with decades of experience in investigating corruption at various levels - from violations in the procurement of a small municipality to the purchase of luxury dachas that do not fit into the official’s salary budget. Every word we utter is documented.

Chronicles is an independent project. There are no forbidden topics, authorities or censorship for us. We talk about corruption honestly, openly and with facts.

Our goal is to influence the current situation by creating a chronicle of Russian theft. We do not appeal to the state with complaints and do not call for protests. We are going the other way: we dig up official archives and open sources and collect dossiers on politically significant persons from the flow of information.

We are convinced that the only way to defeat corruption is to make visible it and those people who profit from Russian citizens. You can steal only under one condition: if no one is looking at you or paying attention.

We give hope - to ourselves, to the residents of St. Petersburg and all of Russia. We are making Russia free - from corruption.
