Director David Lynch dies

Director David Lynch has died, Variety reports.

Lynch was 78 years old. In August 2024, the director said that he was diagnosed with emphysema and stopped leaving the house.

• David Lynch is one of the most important classics of auteur cinema. The distinctive features of his films are surrealism and many different interpretations.
• Lynch is known to the mass audience, first of all, as the creator of the television series Twin Peaks, which was released in the early 1990s and had a huge impact on the further development of the TV series industry. In 2017, Lynch directed the sequel to the series, Twin Peaks: The Return; this became his last work.
• Lynch's other famous works include Mulholland Drive, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, and Lost Highway. Lynch is an Oscar, Palme d'Or and Golden Lion winner.
