Joel Le Skuarnek was born in 1950 - his father worked as a red -drawn, later got a job in the bank, and his mother was a housewife and raised three children. As Skuarnek himself recalled later, he decided to become a doctor at seven years old. He asked his father to advise a profession to which a lot of money can be earned, and he invited him to become a surgeon. When the boy was 15 years old, his father brought him to the morgue and showed the body of his grandfather Joel, who died in an accident. “I did not feel anything and did not show emotions. My father told me that I was as cold as my grandfather, ”Skuarnek later told the investigators.
After school, Skuarnek entered the hotel-Die-Paris Hospital and the Clinical Department of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Paris Descartes, where he studied the surgery of the digestive tract. There he met his future wife Mari-France Lermitt. In 1983, Skuarnek got a job at the La Fontaine clinic in the commune Losh, where he worked for the next 11 years.
The first victim of Skuarnek was his niece Alexander. She was abused in 1983, when she was only five years old.

Stefani almost spoke about the survivor of violence in January 2017, when her sister, 56-year-old Christina, died in an accident-but did not dare, because she was afraid for her mother’s condition. Then Stefani wrote a letter about how a family friend had repeatedly raped it, and put it in the coffin of her sister.

In 1989, Skuarchnek began keeping a diary and regularly returned to it until 2014 ( according to other sources , kept a diary from 1990 to 2017) - he filled from 40 to more than 100 pages in a year. He also led the spreadsheet, where he brought the names, age and addresses of his victims and briefly described violence against them. 299 people were injured from Skuarnek’s actions, the average age of children was 11 years old. Skuarnek committed violence during examinations - pretended that these were ordinary medical manipulations. “The advantage of little girls is that you can touch them without faced with many questions,” he wrote . Sometimes the children told their parents that something strange happened to them, but their words were not taken seriously.

In February 2025, a new trial began over Skuarchnec. The former surgeon was accused of rape 299 people, most of whom were less than 15 years old. Skuarnek admitted in most cases of violence, but he denied some accusations, calling his actions a part of medical procedures. Skuarnek said that he still considers himself a good doctor: “I know that it may seem difficult, but my pedophilian activity is one, my professional activity is completely different, and this pedophilian activity did not affect my professional activity.”
At the beginning of the trial, Skuarnek admitted that "he committed disgusting acts." “I understand perfectly that these wounds are indelible, it is impossible to heal them,” he said . “I cannot go back, but I am obliged to [victims] and their relatives to admit my actions and consequences that they have experienced and which will undoubtedly continue to experience throughout their lives.”
The niece of Skuarnek Alexander did not believe in his repentance: “This person considers children as sexual objects,” she told reporters.

Although Lermitt broke up with her husband in the early 2000s, she still visits him in prison. I respect this anger, it is quite justified, ”he said , after which he admitted that he actually raped 300 children. The three hundredth of the victim was his granddaughter, the daughter of Renan.
