Friday, February 4, is appointed “Mubarak’s Day” - the opposition and all the caring are going to go march to the presidential palace in Cairo. The past day in Egypt was not the most calm. On Thursday, February 3, clashes of supporters of the current president and his opponents continued. In Cairo, on Tahir Square, protesting against the Mubarak regime, barricades were built a few days ago. They want to take Mubarak with an exemption and declare that they will not leave the square until he relieves the presidential powers
The supporting head of state tried to take the simple fortifications of the opposition by storming, they fiercely defended their position. Representatives of both camps were used to move stones and smoke bombs, automatic queues were heard - three people were shot dead.
The army of Egypt, as promised, retained neutrality in this situation and did not support any of the parties, trying to calm everyone down. In the afternoon, on Thursday, the military adjusted the Square of armored vehicles and brought soldiers.
Over the past day, the government of various countries and organizations hurriedly exported their citizens and employees from the country. At the same time, attacks on journalists became more frequent in Egypt. Correspondents of the Vesti-24 television channel were beaten, the Polish group was detained (the whereabouts of some people are still unknown), the Spanish correspondent and employee of the Al-Arabia channel.
In this situation, the government is trying to start negotiations. To participate in the dialogue, they invited everyone, without exception, political parties in the country-even the Islamist radicals “Muslim brothers” (their leader, by the way, had already managed to tell about their plans for the future-that after the overthrow of the Mubarak, “Brothers” wanted to break the peace treaty with Israel). Some of the opposition to negotiations have already agreed, but the most warlike - the same “brothers” - refuse.
In the process, third -party forces are actively involved. For example, the US administration. The New York Times claims that the American government, together with the Egyptian authorities, is developing a plan for changing power in the country. Mubaraku, in particular, the United States offers to leave its post immediately. The transition government should take up the leadership of Egypt (all the political forces of the country will enter there) under the leadership of the vice president of Omar Suleiman and with the support of the army. They must ensure the democratic elections of the next president of the country. Judging by his statements, Mubarak, this option is quite satisfied. However, the president fears that if he leaves immediately, chaos will begin in the country.
The day of the assault on the palace can become decisive for Egypt. It is possible that some political changes will occur in other countries of the Middle East-mass demonstrations (so far peaceful) are going to conduct opposition in Syria, Jordan, Yemen and Lebanon.
