Triumph of salt

In one of the oldest cities in the Perm Territory - Solikamsk - they decided to erect a monument of salt. The local cultural department announced a competition for the best project. Participants include figurative thinking: bread and salt, salt bags-apparently the same ones that once dragged Permyaki in the zeros and how much in vain they pierced their ears.

Five participants presented their vision of the new cultural object of the “salt capital of Prikamye” (which Solikamsk believes). Among the announced is the Perm author to Rustam Ismagilov, who already has a successful experience working with “salt” symbols (in the center of Perm is his sculpture “ Permyak - Solded Ears ”: both local and tourists really like it)

A prerequisite for the contestants: a salt monument should become a symbol of the city, the personification of Solikamsk. “Our city positions itself as a salt capital of Prikamye, but at the same time it is provincial. This metropolitan provinciality should become the dominant idea of ​​the monument, ”says Tatyana Lechtina, head of the Culture Department of the Solikamsk Administration.

The initial sketches have already been handed over. Now sculptors are finalizing them in accordance with the wishes of the organizing committee. The central square of Solikamsk is reconstructed, and this, according to Lechtina, means that "the site on which the monument is planned will change completely up to the location of the paths." The final versions of the projects will be ready on June 3.

At the preliminary sketch, a salt monument in the head of Rustam Ismagilov looks like a festive towel with bread and salt hanging in the air. Another author, Solikamsky, offers, for example, to build a bench, the supports for which are two bags (as it becomes clear from the accompanying signature - with salt). There is also a project where only one, standing on a monumental pedestal, is provided, and salt is piled on top with a slide (more than a lump-like one, similar to a look-like sugar).

The city administration has not yet decided on the material from which the monument will be made. It can be either cast from bronze or granite. The first autumn month is assigned to its manufacture - September. In October-November, salt should take the place prepared for it, and in December-celebrate the official “birthday” with a solemn discovery.
