The capital of Estonia Tallinn, along with the Finnish Turk, is the “cultural capitals of Europe” in 2011.
To study the “cultural and derivatives” experience, I and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Perm Territory Boris Milgram went to Tallinn last week. The trip was organized by the Tallinn City Theater. He is called, thank you!
Initially, I wanted to fly to St. Petersburg , then to drive to the Estonian capital by train. But it turned out that the railway message between Peter and Tallinn has not yet been “restored”? And you can get from the Russian northern to the Estonian capital only by vehicles, which I did not want at all taking into account the fact that the bus on this route takes six hours. In general, traditionally flew through Moscow.
In Tallinn at the end of January, the weather turned out to be a premier - it was constantly wet snow, it was viscous and damp underfoot, and all this was accompanied by the wind from the Baltic. At the same time, the city of Tallinn itself makes a pleasant impression. It is felt that the old city is renovated, life is in full swing in the historical center. Everything looks very beautiful.
We flew into a completely modern (not very large) airport, from which flights are made to almost all European large cities, which is not bad for the 400,000 Tallinn. At the same time, the airport is located very close to the city. On the day of departure, I went by taxi from the very heart of the old city to the airport for only 10 or 15 minutes, paying a taxi driver with tips six euros.
On the first day of stay in Tallinn, we were accepted by the Minister of Culture of Estonia Lyne Jann, who speaks perfectly in Russian and sincerely hopes for the activation of cultural cooperation with the Perm Territory. In general, in Estonia there are no longer any problems with the Russian language, almost everyone knows it and talks on it. At the same time, Estonia really needs and is very counting on tourists from Russia.
It is clear that Estonia is a small and not very rich country, so there is no need to count on investments in the culture of the Perm Territory from the Estonian side. We did not eat such an illusion. It is more important for us to establish (or rather - restore) humanitarian relations so that Perm cultural institutions would feel at home in Estonia and to know about Perm cultural events in Estonia. This is important not only because Tallinn is a “cultural capital”, but also because the Perm cultural layer is Russian -language, and Estonia is one of the few EU countries where the Russian language is understandable and in demand. Over time, the language barrier will disappear, since art is international and has its own universal languages, but so far it is necessary to reckon with this feature.
In general, we agreed with the Madame Minister that Perm landing will land in Tallinn in the fall of 2011 to participate in the Golden Mask - Tallinn program, and in 2012 Estonian theaters, directors, actors and critics will participate in our Perm International Directions.
In the evening we watched the performance of the Tallinn City Theater "I Love the Germans." This theater is worthy of particular attention. It is completely located in the old city in historical buildings, some of which are more than 500 years old. It has several halls, including the hall in the basement (where we watched the performance), as well as in an old mill, built also during the Livonian Order.
The next day, we were already at the Directorate of the Cultural Capital and in its information center.
What struck us was the actual coincidence in the ideology that we realized in the Perm Territory and adopted in Tallinn. Moreover, there is a coincidence even in the little things.
They, like us, respect the richest cultural heritage that we got from our ancestors. At the same time, there is a clear understanding that it is necessary to move on and create a new heritage - what our descendants will be proud of, along with the “old” heritage. That is why, together with the famous theater and musical groups in the program “Tallinn - the Cultural Capital of Europe”, numerous non -format and underground are involved.
The organizers of the “cultural capital” (like us) are aware of the need for their city on the cultural map of Europe. A similar problem is facing Perm. About us, about our creative groups and the results of their work should be known throughout the continent. It is from this point of view that various kinds of international cultural events are extremely important. And the point here is not in tour, but in joint creativity, in the unification of creative resources.
Another similarity: in Tallinn they realize that culture does not live in “cultural” buildings - theaters, palaces, and museums. She lives everywhere, so it is important for everyone to go outside, involve people in the creative process. Here I immediately recall the upcoming festival of festivals "White Nights in Perm."
In addition, the Directorate of the Cultural Capital announced a competition among those who wanted to do something new and interesting. So they formed the festival “52 Ideas and Surprise”, which is very similar to our “ Living Perm ”.
And finally, what just struck us was the problem of the coast of the Baltic Sea. In Soviet times, the coast was borderline, so it was not used as a recreation area, and after 1991, the tradition of rest on the shore simply did not appear. And now the directorate is faced with the task of re -open the shore of the Baltic for tourists and residents of Tallinn. Everything is like in Perm with the coast of the Kama, which has always been industrial and did not play a serious tourist and leisure role.
In general, after a trip to Tallinn, we were convinced of the correctness of our plans.
We will continue similar to the Visits. And already this year we will go to the "Cultural Capitals" 2012 and 2013. As we go - I will write it off.
