Some of the Russian skaters were not allowed to the Olympics in Italy

The International Union of Skating Chances reduced the quota of Russian skaters for games-2026, depriving representatives of paired skiing and dancing on the ice of the opportunity to take part in the Olympic selection.

When on New Year's Eve came from Europe a sudden and joyful-wave news that the International Union of Skating Handles (ISU) allowed skaters from Russia to games in Milan and Cortina-D'Ampezzo, the fans shouted "Hurray!" And they rejoiced, anticipating, like native virtuosos, albeit under a neutral flag, will collect a gold and wiped their noses to the foreign rivals who have bored without competition. Fans hysterically argued about who needed to be sent to the qualifying round to Beijing, and scolded the President of the FFCR Anton Sikharulidze, who at the end of winter decided not to publicize the list of those candidates whom officials recommended for the autumn tournament in the capital of China. But here it is necessary to remind this.

ISU did not directly let the Russian envoy to the winter fair - 2026, but only allowed the “chosen” ice masters to participate in the September qualification Olympic selection.

Our country was allowed to put one girl, one guy, one sports pair and one dance duet to the “casting”. And in each category (in case of injuries or other force majeure), a spare composition was expected (also in the singular). But all the lucky ones (like their deputies) needed to go through ideological control for compliance with certain criteria for obtaining the necessary neutral status.

A special company was supposed to track the behavior of our skaters in social networks (and not only), so as not to "miss a person who acted and acts with the active support of hostilities in Ukraine or is associated with military organizations in Russia." By the way, such “tests” were held by all those who wanted to show themselves at the summer Olympiad in Paris. And many then chopped down. The same time after the main “scanning”, it was, according to insiders, another, additional “diagnostics”, which was conducted by a newly formed commission from three members of the ISU Council and one representative of the IOC.

Familiar experts initially assumed that harsh examiners would not show complete loyalty and they would withdraw (and they are not obliged to explain and argue their decisions) of our leaders. But in reality, everything turned out even more strange, although quite predictably. The greenhouses (Anastasia Mishina - Alexander Gallyamov) and the dancers (Alexandra Stepanova - Ivan Bukin) The “lice” test did not slip and will not be allowed to preliminary competitions in Beijing. And now, according to the regulations, since the first numbers did not receive the green light, the figures of all the spare comrades (they were Alexander Boykov - Dmitry Kozlovsky and Vasilisa Kaganovskaya - Maxim Nekrasov) will not be considered in principle.

And, in my opinion, knowing the conditions of admission, it still made sense to play it safe and include in the list of those who did not lit up in the “arbitrary” political field ... Yes, the chances of the second and third numbers that passed the qualifications of the Italian podium would of course, but they could get invaluable experience in the games. And now everyone will have to wait at least another four years ...

Fortunately, crime in social networks and “wrong steps” outside the ice of Russian loners and lonelines, the inspection did not find today. And she gave a positive response, awarded the winner of the winner of the final of the Grand Prix of Peter Gumennik and the current champion of Russia Adeliya Petrosyan, and also approved the reserve-Vladislav Dikzhi and Alina Gorbacheva. If one of them, God forbid, is injured or ill, Alina and Vladislav will be able to go to the arena. True, there is another nuance: only those athletes who will get vouchers in the autumn “Carnival” in China have the right to dandy at games-2026. That is, after the selection, no replacements are already provided. And a reserve athlete will not be able to get to the Olympics instead of an unexpectedly chopped comrade.

At the same time, even you still need to get to China. Indeed, in the official ISU commander there is the following passage: “If there are any new evidence confirming the violation of the correspondence criteria for a particular skater, a list of neutral athletes made can be changed.”
