Contracting the city, disappearing old buildings, fucked beaches - and new parks, coffee houses and monuments. All this and other realities of modern life - in the pictures of the photographers of the New tab, which we asked for the birthday of our publication to tell and show what has changed over the past three years in the regions of Russia.
New tab began working in May 2022.
- In 2023, Vladimir Putin awarded the title “City of Labor Valor” to the city of Prokopyevsk in the Kemerovo region, and in 2024, work began on the restoration of the park and installing the stele of labor valor. The people in local publics were indignant that 500 million would spend 500 million on all these repairs. The city has a lot of problems - from pits on the roads and flocks of homeless dogs to coal sections within the city. People leave Prokopyevsk, there is work only in mines and coal cuts. And this is the main problem that the authorities can no longer solve in any way. But we have a stele of labor valor above Novokuznetsk by eight meters.

The head of Prokopyevsk announced a vote about the place of installation of the stele on one of the Kuzbass platforms before the project showed, that is, people had to vote, not knowing how the stele would look. It is expected that in the comments there were the same type of phrases with the voice for Victory Park. Now in all the news they write that people themselves chose a place for the stele. Although in our city there are other areas, which, apparently, will not be engaged in.

- From February 24, 2022, the whole sky over the Kuban was closed, including the Pashkovsky airport in Krasnodar. You can fly away only from Sochi or mineral waters, and to them from Krasnodar at least five hours by train. Every year there are rumors that the air traffic is about to be restored, but alas. In the meantime, the "tall" guests and the military use the airport. Meanwhile, since October 2023, the second airport has been being built in Krasnodar. It is planned that it will be completed until the end of 2026, and when they open it, it is incomprehensible.
- In the last three years, I have been traveling a lot to a variety of and sometimes the most distant regions of Russia. I see how the landscape changes - there is a lot of advertising for a contract, inscriptions about “their own”, portraits of military, religious and imperial graffiti. The flags of Russia began to flicker especially often. But now they are fixed on the facades of not only state institutions, but also on private residential buildings, on the balconies of apartments, in stores and other buildings. Now the flag is not timed to the holiday - this is ordinary, as if an integral attribute of reality. It is amazing for me that there are cities in which almost nothing of this. For example, in the city of Kopeysk, Chelyabinsk region. There I even saw the inscriptions prohibited in Russia on poles and infrastructure facilities, which after February 2022 at first there were many in large cities.
In the photo, the flag is attached to the residential building in the village of Datta Vaninsky district of the Khabarovsk Territory. This place is in the last camp of the people of Oroch. The people, who now do not have their own national settlement simply because they, representatives of Orochi, are not enough.
-On December 15, 2024, the Tankers of Volgonft-212 and Volgonft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait, tons of fuel oil hit the Black Sea. The very next day, the fuel began to throw on the beaches of the Krasnodar Territory. In the first months, on the beaches of Anapa, the employees of public structures were practically not visible, but everywhere there were volunteers in white protective suits, who came from all over the country to help cleaning fuel oil.
Some inaccessible, but very contaminated places for several weeks remained unattended. For example, the first volunteers appeared on the Bugaz spit only three weeks after the disaster, because it is very difficult to get there, and the volunteers were brought by the Ministry of Emergencies. When my colleague and I came to take off the volunteers on a spit, we were all the old “Ural” took us there, on which the cross -drawn letter “Z” was drawn. Probably, the car served at the front before. The most amazing thing is that when the same truck took us in the evening, instead of the letter there was already a fresh spot of dark green paint. When we climbed inside, I noticed that on the folding sash of the body there was a small, written by the Black Marker, the inscription banned in Russia, which spoke directly the reverse letter “Z”. All this transformation struck me greatly.
- People leave to live from the city in the village. Here is the family - they grew up in the city, left for the village for 20 kilometers, built a house, gave birth to four sons and a daughter, brought chicken, piglets, goats. On the other hand, I see how atmospheric wooden houses disappear in Yoshkar-Ola. For example, against the background of one such I shot in August 2023, and now in its place a high brick house.
- This park in Omsk opened exactly three years ago - May 21, 2022, on the site of the old amusement park, which stood abandoned for a long time. When I was still a child, I went here, but since then there have been no changes, and this is about 20 years old. Then, when they started as a whole by the reconstruction of the Green Island park, part of it was allocated by the Omsksidydidinvest commercial company, which built a family of entertainment “around the world”. Since then, every year the park has been expanding and new attractions appear, different events are held on stage. Now the whole “Green Island” has been transferred to the Osi management, which, in general, seems to be good, since no one was particularly engaged in the park before. Now this green zone looks clean, ennobled, with wide paths for walking and cyclists and with a large number of new attractions. There is something else to strive for, but generally pleases that there is such a place in the city center.
- The building of the construction technical school in the constructivist style in the center of Ivanov on the street on March 8 was built in 1931 according to the project of architects Kadnikov and Livanov. In 1946-50, the facades were rebuilt in the spirit of the Stalinist Empire. Since 2019, the building has not been used, and in March 2021, a part of its roof collapsed under the pressure of snow, 20-year-old Anastasia Nakhimova died. In 2022, the corps was put up for auction. In May 2025, a building, in which several generations of architects and engineers studied, were demolished. In its place they plan to build a residential complex.
- In 2024, the first warm stop appeared in the Angarsk of the Irkutsk region: air conditioning, warm floors, comfortable benches, photographs of the city in forged frames, TV, monitor for tracking transport. Young people are often gathering here. Near the stop, a square was improved, the main feature of which was the clock and a fountain with a waterfall on granite.
-On the city embankment, the main attractions of Angarsk, a stylish X Coffee coffee shop opened: coffee, drinks, snacks, fast Wi-Fi and Dog-Friedly atmosphere.
- The theme of the loss of historical wooden buildings has long excited me, and my last work about this was a small project “Architecture of Memory”, where I create digital scans of old houses in Tomsk through photogrammetry technology. This is my attempt to fix the last look at what disappears forever. No one and nothing is able to stop the process of oblivion, but in this naive act of resistance I find for myself a little comfort and humility before the inevitable.
- The problem of preserving wooden architecture in Tomsk has been standing for a long time. Particularly significant and unique objects are in relative safety, but most of the about 1,600 guarded houses either have already become unusable or very close to this. Some were completely rotten, some fell apart under the onslaught of time, some burned for various reasons. Their status does not allow them to disappear completely: now they are abandoned, turning into blind spots on the map of the city.

- In Kirov, the “Labor Reserves” stadium was restored, on which in 1968 there was a tragedy: an accidental explosion of pyrotechnics led the death of dozens of people. Since then, the stadium has been abandoned.
- On the left is a restored fragment of the wall of the bishop farm in Kirov, which was restored by the volunteers of the Tom Sawyer Fest on Vyatka movement. On the right-the monument to Alexander Nevsky established in 2024 on the 650th anniversary of Kirov.
- Graffiti “Starching” by the artist Max Sinderovich is the only one that was preserved after the improvement of Spasskaya Square in Kirov. In the image “encrypted” the scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and washing machine “Vyatka-Automat”.

- I call this photo "gates to the white nothing." This, of course, is a metaphor. Over the past three years, there have been great changes in journalistic photography. If earlier it was amazing and interesting, now, according to the sensations, I fix what sociologists call the necropolitan: funerals, tears, gray -haired heads, empty eyes, colorless people, vomiting, courts, innocent prisoners, close innocent prisoners, tear gas, weapons and protective costumes, traces of torn outware, wreaths on fresh graves and how the fact that I love is very much destroyed. The soul wears out of such filming.
