The composition of Steve Reich "WTC 9/11" memory of victims of a terrorist attack on the twin tower in New York
"New Music Studio" opens the season with the Warning project, at which the Russian premiere of the full version of WTC 9/11 will be held.
The name of the concert is an anagram of two English words “war” and “danger”. Two works of the program - the quartet of Shostakovich and Partita Klein - is the memory of the Second World War, which has forever changed the cultural and political landscape of the world.
The eighth quartet of Shostakovich is dedicated to the "victims of fascism and horrors of the 20th century." Partite for strings is the composition of Gideon Klein, written in 1944 in a concentration camp. Gideon Klein was a prisoner of a concentration camp in Terezin. It was at this time that he wrote his string trio, which in 1990 was shifted for the string orchestra by the Czech composer Voyah Saudek. From Terezin, Klein was first transferred to Auschwitz, then to the Fürstengrube concentration camp, where he was killed a few weeks before release at the age of 25. “Agnus Dei” by Samuel Barber is the author’s arrangement of his famous adagio for strings, which in turn became the transformation of the second part of his first string quartet.
For half a century it seemed that the threat of disaster has passed forever, but in the first year of the next century a terrible disaster broke out on September 11. The world again became different, complete dangers, anxieties and new challenges. This is the composition of the outstanding American composer Steve Reich WTC 9/11, which will be performed in Russia for the first time.
