On his website, Spermers offers those who wish to transfer money to his account to pay for journalistic projects and promises to return “investments” with ten percent benefits.

Spectors apologized to unethical messages on Twitter and said that he was just trying to draw attention to this topic in this way. He also emphasized that it was out of respect for relatives that he did not publish photographs of the found and gently packed each object. According to the Spectrax, he in advance agreed with the Dutch prosecutor’s office to meet in the airport building and voluntary transfer of objects from the scene of the Boeing’s crash, but upon arrival in the Schiphol, everything did not go quite according to plan. The fact is that Senders traveled not one in the Donetsk region, but with his colleague Stefan Bek, who, however, did not accompany him to the crash site of the MN17 flight. Bek was against the idea of the self -export of debris and the remains from the scene of the disaster and, as he writes on his blog , decided to part with the spectrace before receiving baggage. Having passed passport control and already receiving luggage, Beck noted that the backpack with part of the Boeing fragments was registered in his name, and not in the name of the Spectrax, "by mistake of the Aeroflot." Therefore, Bek continues, he took this backpack from the luggage tape instead of his suitcase, which caused the suspicion of the prosecutor's office - its employees decided that the journalists thus tried to conceal part of the materials brought. Beka was stopped, the backpack was confiscated. Both journalists were interrogated in separate rooms in the airport building. In addition to the objects from the scene, the Spectrax also seized a laptop, mobile phones, video and cameras, data from which he refused to give to copy voluntarily. According to him, the bulk of the photos and video materials he wrote is devoted to the DPR, not the MN17 disaster, and he was afraid for the safety of his sources.

Spectors and Beck arrived in the Donetsk region on December 25 from Russia, that is, crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border illegally. Initially, a visit to the falling territory of the Boeing fragments was not part of their plans - they were going to limit themselves to a report on the life of the DPR. During trips to the DPR, Senders were accompanied by a photographer from Gorlovka Vladislav Zeleny, who is listed as a representative of the Polish People GNK on the website of the Center for Research of Crimes against the National Security of Ukraine "Peacemaker" . The Union of Dutch journalists NVJ opposed the confiscation of the equipment of the Speckers. It is not yet clear how to respond to the proposal of the Netherlands police, Senders said in an interview with BNR on Thursday: "They offer to erase some of the materials, they want to copy the other part, they will not touch the third part." Spectors does not deny that the transfer of objects from the Boeing crash territory occurred on the initiative of the Netherlands prosecutor's office. The representative of the prosecutor’s office also warned Spectors on January 6 that, according to the legislation of the Netherlands, the pickup of objects from the scene of the crime is a criminal offense.
