Stop mockery

In the center of Moscow near the house where the opposition politician Boris Nemtsov lived, on September 14 there was a skirmish of the nationalist movement of SERB Goshi Tarasevich with lawyer Ilya Novikov.

Novikov met there with the municipal deputy Sergei Markov. According to the lawyer, two SERB activists tore off a poster with the image of Nemtsov from the building and threw flowers from the place where the memorial plaque was a policy. Tarasevich claims that after that Novikov attacked him with a bat. The lawyer said that he took her out of the car to fight back in case of attack.

On September 12, SERB figures self -right to disrupt the memorial plate from the house where Nemtsov lived. Earlier, the Moscow authorities said that the installation of a memorial sign is illegal, and offered to transfer it into the entrance. The decision to install the plate was made by the general meeting of residents of the house on Malaya Ordynka. They believe that this is their private property and it is possible to remove the board only by court decision.

- It was completely unexpected. I drove there for 10 minutes. The day before I agreed with Sergey Markov, the initiator of the installation of a memorial plaque on the house where Boris Nemtsov lived. And this two people stole this board, damaged it at the same time. I agreed that we will meet with him. He had just a few minutes there until the next meeting, and I was in a hurry to the Investigative Committee. We did not expect anything like that. When I arrived at this house, it turned out that these two people are located there. Igor Beketov, who calls himself Tarasevich, and the deputy of the municipal assembly of Brumel shot a video near such a temporary national memorial at this house. There people put flowers, hang photos. They went against the backdrop of these photographs and said something. Sergey came up to me. He got into my car. And at that moment we saw Tarasevich defiantly under Brumel’s camera, tearing a photograph of Boris Nemtsov from the wall and begins to click it. It was all very fast. I did not have any time to weigh all this properly. I thought that you just cannot leave the situation as it is. Knowing who Tarasevich is, remembering the video where he will attack people where he beats the policeman and remains unpunished after that, I took a baseball bat for the ostrand to just show him that if he attacks me, then this would not remain unanswered. I went up to him, demanded that he give the photo. We began such that is called in the language of the police protocol, the "verbal conflict". Then he began to grab this bat from my hands. Then Sergey Markov, with whom we met, ran up to us. He grabbed the hand from the other side. We fought so hugged, in the clinch, probably less than a minute. By the end of this time, the police were on the spot. They did not have time to see anything. But we, in their escort, proceeded to the "Zamoskvorechye" police department, wrote each of our explanation there. I wrote that Tarasevich made hooliganism before my eyes. This can be interpreted as “hooliganism” or as “petty hooliganism”, but in any case, the abuse of a photograph of a deceased person, all the more killed, who died under circumstances as Boris Nemtsov, is a way to show society, to show people that you are neglecting that it is valuable for them, important things for them. Namely, our law interprets hooliganism. After an hour and a half, when we returned to the department, since the police insisted that I go to the hospital and the doctors examined me, Tarasich was still in the department. He asked him to be given a referral for examination to some clinic. I admit that he will try to get some kind of certificate that he was very hard to suffer.

- Why were you sent to receive a medical examination? Have you received any injuries?

- Doctors said that I had a concussion, although there was a suspicion that I could damage my finger, but the diagnosis was not confirmed. The police correctly judged that if suddenly it turned out that a person was injured, and they did not take measures to provide assistance, it would be wrong on their part. In this situation, we must pay tribute, the police acted correctly. Rarely a lawyer has to praise the police, but this was our newly educated tourism police. They behaved very correctly, educated, polite, as soon as a healthy person can expect from the police. I admit that now Tarasevich will try to get some kind of certificate that he was seriously injured. This, of course, is not true. Firstly, we have two videos-a video that Brumel himself shot, his comrade, and there was still a random passer-by, local guy Zhenya. He also shot the video and gave it to the policeman. It shows that Tarasevich has no serious damage to Tarashevich according to the results of this story. He walked around the police department for two hours. If he really felt bad, he would have been concerned much earlier to go to the doctor. I believe that in general this incident will not be so significant. For my part, I partly regret that I did not show the restraint that it would be worth showing a lawyer. I came there to defend, and not to be the active side of this conflict. But I hope that my colleagues and just people correctly understand me, which to purely emotionally leave without reaction, without any answer, such an abuse of Boris Nemtsov’s memory at that moment was completely impossible.

-Will it somehow affect your lawyer activities?

- I do my best so that it does not affect. There is still no proceedings. So far, statements have been submitted by which this or that production may be aroused or not excited. I want to emphasize that my colleagues lawyers showed exceptional solidarity, in addition to those three colleagues whom I directly invited myself - Sergey Badamshin, Peter Obukhov and Oleg Eliseev, I had a lot of colleagues who asked me whether I needed to help. I am absolutely convinced that even if the affairs of my customers go somehow wrong, because I will have to spend my time to fight back from this story, my colleagues will help me out.

-From the part of the Bar Association, someone may consider that your behavior does not correspond to the status of a lawyer ...

If you do not give these people a rebuff at a direct physical level, then any of our efforts in the legal sphere may be late

- I really hope that the collegium will correctly appreciate my behavior. Because there are situations in which it is completely impossible to keep silent from an ethical point of view. I really hope that they will understand me correctly, especially considering who this Tarasich is and who Brumel is. These are not random people. These are people for whom a long history of mockery over the memory of a murdered person. Recently, in addition to the fact that I undertook to represent Sergei Markov and the residents of this house about the stunned tablet, I also undertook to represent the family of Ivan Skripnichenko , who died on the bridge by Nemtsov, who died a week after he had beaten the same or the same person with shouts “You are against Putin!”. Very similar in texture to Tarasevich and his friends. It is obvious to me that if you do not give these people a rebuff at such a direct physical level, then any of our efforts in the legal sphere may be late. Although, of course, I perfectly understand that this is not a lawyer’s business, but when it happened, I was in place. Therefore, I did as I did. I repeat, I hope that everyone will understand me correctly, including my colleagues.
