The Ministry of Education included a "special operation" in the program of history lessons

The Ministry of Education of Russia included the topic of "special operations in Ukraine" - this is how the military invasion is officially called in Russia - in the school program of history lessons for students of grades 10-11.

From the order of the department, it follows that after studying the basic course of history, schoolchildren should “understand the significance of Russia in world and socio-economic processes,” as well as the causes and consequences of the “collapse of the USSR, the revival of the Russian Federation as a world power, the reunification of Crimea with Russia, a special military operation in Ukraine and other most important events of the 21st and early XXI centuries.”

On the eve of the Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov said that the lessons dedicated to the topic of the war in Ukraine, entitled "Talk about the Important" will be held in Russian schools throughout the school year. Earlier, the "Alliance of Teachers" said that all the references to Ukraine and the Russian military invasion of its territory were removed from the class.

“Someone said, they were excluded there, they didn’t exclude anything, it’s just that we all regarding the content of a special military operation, we decided not to do one lesson, but distribute it throughout the school year,” Kravtsov said.

• Weekly class hours "Talking about the important" have been introduced from this school year for Russian schoolchildren from 1st to 11th grade. The schoolchildren should have received information on them, including the "special operation" in Ukraine. In the methodological materials published by the Ministry of Education of Russia in August, the invasion is presented as “help” by the Russian population of Ukraine, and the actions of the Russian military - as examples of exploits and military valor.
• The "Alliance of Teachers", who considered "talking about important" propaganda lessons and called for teachers and parents to boycott them.
• On September 7, the media noted that the Ministry of Education of Russia updated the methodological manuals and materials for the lesson "Talk about the important" that should be held on September 12.
• According to the former plan, high school students were supposed to talk about the fact that the war in Ukraine is a “manifestation of genuine patriotism”, since it was started to protect the population of the so -called “LPR” and “DPR”, allegedly subjected to “mockery and oppression by the Kyiv regime”. In the updated program, "Manifestation of genuine Patriotism," schoolchildren are offered to show through the work of Russian and Soviet writers.
• The Law "On Education" prohibits teachers and educational institutions "use educational activities for political agitation, forcing students to accept political, religious or other beliefs."
