Since April 3, in Nizhny Novgorod, automobile traffic is closed along the Canaurin bridge over the OKU, dividing the upper and lower parts of the city. Since the metro will come to the Nagoric part of the lower one and a half years later, the inhabitants of the city in fact do not have alternative ways to reach the historical center relatively quickly, where, mainly, high -paying jobs are located. Politicians prophesies the city of a transport collapse, seeing in what is happening a clear political component in the eve of the reassignment of Governor Shantsev, and ordinary Nizhny Novgorods are seriously talking about a possible change in the place of work.
The fact that the Canaurus bridge urgently needs major repairs, it became known seven years ago. The bridge was put into operation in 1935, but was repaired the only time-in the late 60s. In 1997, major repairs were not completed due to the termination of funding, although the bridges were supposed to be repaired every five years. In the summer of 2003, the state of the bridge was recognized as emergency. Over the past seven years, the situation has not clearly improved in the city for a long time there has been a chronic deficit of bridges - only three bridge crossings through the OKU and one through the Volga. Foreigners who come to Nizhny say that in such a megalopolis, divided into two parts, you need to have not three or four, but at least a couple of dozen bridges. Last year, the automobile part of the metromost through Oka was put into operation. However, the authorities admit that the launched object is a “semi -finished product”, since the approaches to the bridge are not equipped and the problem of automobile plugs has not been solved and not even reduced.
The head of Nizhny Novgorod Vadim Bulavinov said in March that the project of the overhaul of the Canaurin bridge over the OKU will be ready in the fall. However, on March 29 it was urgently stated that the most important transport artery of the city was closing, moreover, after a few days and at least a year and a half. Say, you can’t ride more on the bridge.
There is a metro in Nizhny Novgorod, but it has not yet come to the upper part of the city. Therefore, it will be possible to quickly get to the city center from the proletarian sleeping areas now perhaps by helicopter. Another option is to go upstairs by traveling on other bridges, the number of vehicles on which with the closure of the Canaurian bridge transition is clearly not reduced. “In order to prevent transport collapse, we strongly recommend that car owners transfer from personal transport to public when traveling to the central part of Nizhny Novgorod,” said Vice -mayor Sergei Gladyshev. In addition, the city administration turned to the leadership of universities, most of which are located in the historical center with a request to revise the study schedule of students "in order to dilute the flows of students who come to the city center."
Deputy of the State Duma Alexander Kurdyumov is extremely pessimistic:
- The problem of the Kanavinsky bridge is facing the city for a long time. But in order for this to be less painful, it was necessary to prepare in advance: to launch the metro in the Nagoric part, build full -fledged automobile approaches to the metromost, and work out transport routes. The authorities invited motorists to transfer to public transport. Let them show an example themselves. Why don't they stand in traffic jams, as the inhabitants of Nizhny Novgorod do with enviable regularity? Perhaps their benevolent mood will do not know, and then they will seriously think about the problem that will arise among the townspeople in connection with the closure of the main transport artery of the city.
Meanwhile, if desired, in the closure of the bridge you can see a political aspect. As you know, in August, the term of powers of the governor Valery Shchantsev ends. During the incomplete five years of staying in the post of head of the region, Valery Pavlinovich had many political opponents. The other day, the speaker of the regional parliament Viktor Lunin said that the president of the country will accept the decision on the possible nomination of Shantsev for a new term before the end of June. At the same time, many factors will be taken into account, the most important of which is the rating of the governor among the population of the region, the good half of which lives in the regional center. In the light of the inevitable transport collapse in Nizhny Novgorod, the rating of the head of the region will not increase at least.
