The program is conducted by Kirill Kobrin. The Radio Liberty correspondent Danila Halperovich takes part.
Kirill Kobrin: In Moscow, a new process in the new case of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Plato Lebedev continues. Today is the next day in court, and my colleague Danila Halperovich is working there, he is now on the phone on the live broadcast of freedom.
Danila Halperovich: I must say that the beginning of the day, the beginning of the discussion did not portend anything so sensational. It was an ordinary day when the prosecutors, the prosecution announces the documents that they consider evidence. Today it was the announcement of the documents that the prosecution received in the seizure of documents from the banks at one time. There is a lot of translation, there are a lot of other documents. And, of course, the defense and the accused pointed to the prosecutors that these documents were also withdrawn with a clear violation of the law, and serious mistakes were made in the translations of those documents that were not in Russian.
This was the usual presentation of the so -called evidence base until the prosecutors filed their petition to extend the detention of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Plato Lebedev for another three months, until November 17 this year. The fact is that now the term of their detention in this case has expired on August 17. For the extension of the deadline, the prosecution turned. There was not only the date, there were also new charges, and it was amazing for so many who are watching the process. During the application of the petition, the prosecution was virtually verbally charged, she just spoke them. And the main point of this new prosecution is the assignment of shares of two companies - Tomskneft -VNK and Khakasnefteproduct - by embezzlement. I must say, the lawyers were indignant, they demanded at least some text design of this petition, and took time for familiarization. And, perhaps, these new accusations - in assigning some other shares of some other companies through theft - will be in the near future the main topic, on which, perhaps, prosecutors and lawyers will argue.
