Kalachakra is simultaneously the name of the deity and the whole tantric system in Buddhism. The St. Petersburg datsan is inextricably linked with this deity: in 1913, the Buddhist temple was consecrated in honor of the Kalachak deity, while receiving the Tibetan name: “Kun La Brtse Mdzad Dbang Dam Chos ' Byung Ba'i Gnas” (“The source creatures ”), or, abbreviated,“ Datsan Gunzecheinay ”. So far, it was not decided by the Soviet government to close the Buddhist temple in St. Petersburg, prayers dedicated to Kalachakra were regularly held there. Later, when in 1991 the Buddhist temple was returned to believers, such services resumed.
The word “kalachakra” (Sanskrit) means the cycle of time, and the Kalachakra system represents three such cycles: external, internal and changing. External and internal cycle are related to the time, as we usually understand it. At the external level, the Universe passes through space, astronomical, astrological and historical cycles (it is appropriate to talk about twelve -year and twelve -month cycles, four times of the year, communication with astrology, the influence of planets, and so on). At the internal level, the body passes through psychophysiological cycles, many of which also bring mental and emotional cycles associated with them (thus, periods of concern, infancy, childhood, youth, maturity, extinction, death) are different. And a change in the cycle is a practice to achieve liberation from two other cycle. The spiritual aspect of Kalachak is associated with a period of awareness: a person becomes more wise, he understands the world around him better. The study of Kalachakra, following this practice is aimed at bringing good to all living beings.
The external and internal aspects of Kalachak are laid in the mandala dedicated to this deity. Mandala - the abode (palace) of the deity and its environment, built of multi -colored sand. I talked in more detail about the construction of the mandala and its significance here . The mandala of Kalachakra is considered the most difficult of all. According to Buddhist views, the creation of the Kalachakrak mandala can have a beneficial effect on the fate of the country and all the peoples inhabiting it, regardless of religion. The mandala Kalachakra cleanses space and brings harmony into the relationship between people, directing their thoughts to the ideals of peace and creation. When erecting the mandala, all the unpaid aspects disappear, and the good aspects are cultivated and remain. The analysis of the mandala of Kalachakra in the St. Petersburg datsan will be held on May 27, on the City Day. Everyone will also be able to get the sand of this mandala, considered a strong amulet.
For the first time in the European part of Russia, during the fourth decade of Buddhist culture in St. Petersburg, mystery Tsam Kalachakra will be shown. TsAM is a ritual dance performed by specially prepared dantry lamas (I talked about Tsam in masks earlier ). Under Tsam Kalachakra, who for the first time in many years was placed in Duinhor Datsana (Republic of Buryatia) in 2010, lamas dressed in special ritual clothes call deities through dance and reading prayers. There are several Kalachakra tsamas: the preceding construction of the mandala (Tsam Sagar, it took place on May 13) and the final, conducted upon the completion of the construction of the mandala - Tsam Chodgar, will be held on May 23. Tsam Kalachakra is also associated with the nurture of divine good qualities in the minds of people. Divine qualities in this case should be considered moral purity, contrasting kindness instead of evil, the implementation of the good to all living beings, regardless of their religion and nationality. In more detail about the dates and time of the start of events, information can be found on the website of the St. Petersburg Datsan www.dazan.spb.ru
