Presenter: Victor Shenderovich
Viktor Shenderovich: Alexey Vadimovich Bartoshevich, professor, doctor of art history. Many generations of GITIS graduates, and then Rati went with pleasure and continue to attend his lectures. I have to say that even those who were not necessary. I know that Bartoshevich’s lectures are the subject of pilgrimage of students and generally simply interested people from other institutions. Tolerate the truth, it is. Firstly, - if suddenly someone has not read, does not know, - I must say that Alexei Vadimovich is a major specialist in Shakespeare and one of the largest revival in the era. Therefore, if you have questions not only in current life, but also in Shakespeare and the Renaissance, please call. And I will tell one bike for the seeding, I already published it somehow, a wonderful story. I studied at the Tabakov studio, 25 years ago it was. And here is an exam on the history of the foreign theater, which is taken by Alexey Vadimovich Bartoshevich. We had a student, we will conditionally call him Petya. And then Petya Shakespeare got, and Petya knows about Shakespeare about as much as Shakespeare about Petya, they are in equal terms.
Alexey Bartoshevich: Shakespeare about Petya is clearly more.
Victor Shenderovich: Maybe yes. And Bartoshevich knows everything about Shakespeare, including the fact that even Shakespeare does not know about himself. And both of them are tormented. Petya is tormented because he shines two points, and Professor Bartoshevich is tormented, because if he puts two points, Petya will come again, but he can no longer see him. And they both understand that they need to strain and come up with something. Alexey Vladimirovich says Petya: "I'll ask you a three question now." He asks the simplest thing that Professor Bartoshevich could ask, he had no easier question. He asked: "What was the name of Hamlet's father?" And then a insight found on Petya, he said: "Claudius." Then Alexey Vladimirovich thought for a few seconds and said: "Perhaps." And put the three.
Alexey Bartoshevich: By the way, this explains a lot.
Viktor Shenderovich: At the same time, Oedipus is side by side, everything immediately becomes in order. Here is such a professor Bartoshevich and such a Hamlet. And in connection with this, to start the conversation, such a children's question: why read Shakespeare at all?
Alexey Bartoshevich: You can answer the children's question even more children's answer - why read at all? This is a rule that a new generation follows with success, a generation of a computer age. I would say that it is not so much to read to find out that a person wrote in 1500 or 1600 such a year, seriously, but in order to understand himself a little. After all, this is the meaning of generally turning to the old great masters. This is done out of curiosity to oneself. Since very often answers to questions about who I am and who we are - we very often find these answers in the great texts of the past. Sorry for the pathos tone.
Viktor Shenderovich: You yourself are to your own, personal biography, not an external biography, but an internal biography, self-awareness: you can say what texts have changed you, and you remember, once something has changed, and you realized that you are different?
Alexey Bartoshevich: It is difficult for me to answer this question, since you yourself do not very much notice such things and it is better to ask about these things from friends. But, I think that in a sense, as every normal person who reads Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Shakespeare or someone else, on any person acts one way or another, changes this very dialogue with great texts. I recall one performance or an article by Brodsky, who asks the question: here are two soldiers who are ordered to shoot some prisoner. And on command, both shoot, but the one who read Onegin shoots one second later. And at this moment the whole thing is, and for the sake of this second, it exists again with Paphos, I say, world culture.
Viktor Shenderovich: The same Brodsky, is my favorite thought to him - he said that the presidents, in addition to bringing the oath, must be taken by the literature exam. And Brodsky called two names for some reason - Dostoevsky and Dickens. These are names chosen by Brodsky. And he argued that if a person read several novels of Dickens and Dostoevsky, then the likelihood of detubication, abominations, lies still a little lower. And so he proposed to enter such exams.
Alexey Bartoshevich: Of course, although in this case only one parliamentary republic threatens all of us.
Victor Shenderovich: Yes, I'm afraid. If in parliament it is exaggerated, I am afraid that we will confine ourselves to anarchy.
Veronica Bode: We have a call from George from St. Petersburg.
Student: Hello. I apologize, I have weakened my memory after a micro -consult for three years ago. But here is an interesting moment: not the year or a half years ago, in my opinion, the lady from England had conducted interesting research from different angles, and the stylistic, and some others, and came to a serious conclusion, but he did not find a continuation, which, according to her, turns out that Shakespeare was a woman. Are there any other considerations about this?
Viktor Shenderovich: I am afraid that you opened just a large oil well with your call.
Alexey Bartoshevich: Yes, I'm afraid that so. I must say that this idea about the fact that Shakespeare is a woman, and even Queen Elizabeth, like a lot of approximately such ideas, they have existed in the world around us for a long time, and this is a whole branch of Shakespearezing culture. I personally treat her with some humor not from conservatism, but simply because I was engaged in these things. Yes, he is a woman, and a man, and a child, and the Lord -God, and a tree, and earth, anything - like every great person. He writes about a woman - he is a woman.
Viktor Shenderovich: You know, Tolstoy, too, when he wrote Anna Karenina, apparently he was a woman, like Flobert in the case of Emma Bovary. But still, I did not hear the suspicions that the “war and the world” and “Anna Karenin” wrote. In the case of Shakespeare, both Bacon, and Ratlendians, to whom I honestly belong ...
Alexey Bartoshevich: I was waiting for this question.
Viktor Shenderovich: What to do is a type of religion. For some reason, the image of Shakespeare is not combined. There are discrepancies known between the image of the writer and his texts, but still there are Mayakovsky and the texts of Mayakovsky, there are Chekhov and the texts of Chekhov, there are Tolstoy and the texts of Tolstoy, they are somehow correlated. The image of Shakespeare, what we know from historical science and from the biography confirmed by Shakespeares, and its texts, in my head they do not close in any way. I can’t imagine that a person who wrote it all that his children did not receive an education and does not have books in his house. It doesn't close in my head.
Alexey Bartoshevich: It closes it calmly. Since, firstly, the connection between the personality of the artist and his works is not at all as simple, not at all as direct as they sometimes think. And it is not necessary to strangle your wife to write "Othello". Although in a sense, in the spiritual world of the great artist, everything that is discussed in his works exists. Which should not certainly be expressed in his external life, in the life of his ordinary, ordinary. Moreover, we can judge only by state documents. And no matter how great the contemporary artist was, judging by his life by the questionnaires that he filled in the personnel department, or by some official documents and reports, his personality will seem rather empty to us. I think that this is an old law, when the person created by a great person is immeasurably more than the personality of this person is on the one hand. On the other hand, there is a lot of evidence. I really would not want to plunge into this stream, I will say only one thing: from my point of view, only the theater practitioner could write these texts, only a person who is not hearing and not from the auditorium, but knows the scenic art, that is, an actor from the inside. Imagine what Ratland, which Bacon, which queen Elizabeth will come to the head, for example, give the chief actor playing tragic roles to relax in the fourth act? Who, besides the practice of the scene, is able to calculate the spiritual and physical forces of the actor? And so on, and so on. These are texts written by those who live on stage, this is the theater text written by the Practitioner of the theater. But this is only one side of the matter, only one of the arguments. You know, last year I was at a conference, and very one famous Shakespeared, not a mossy conservative, approaches me. And he says: "I heard that this idiotic question is still being extended in Russia. Are you still such a province?" I had nothing to answer to this.
Viktor Shenderovich: I must say in justification of this idiocy that Akhmatov and Mark Twain suffered with this idiocy, and a huge number of people suffered from this idiocy and asked itself this question. Akhmatova categorically refused:
Alexey Bartoshevich: She categorically refused, because she was remarkably engaged in Pushkin and did not engage in Shakespeare.
Veronica Bode: We have calls. Elena Vladimirovna from Moscow phoned us. Hello.
Student: Hello. I believe that Bartoshevich actually answered my question. Because my question was such that some time ago there was such a version that under the name of Shakespeare, some large English aristocrat created.
Victor Shenderovich: We are talking about Ratland's column.
Alexey Bartoshevich: We are talking about a very popular, even twice reprinted book by Ilya Mikhailovich Gililov, just proving that Shakespeare was written by Ratland. Although the Belgians were the first to do this at the beginning of the 20th century, then one Russian journalist in the 1920s wrote the book "Shakespeare - Ratland. Three -century conspiracy secret of history." And how a detective is read very exciting. I myself read this fantastic book with great pleasure.
Veronika Bode: We have such a question from Pager, worthy of a question to the doctor of art history: "Please explain the difference between culture and art." Our listener named Leonid Vladimirovich believes that it is very important to understand what is happening in the field of culture.
Alexey Bartoshevich: This is a great theoretical question. But I would say that the field of culture is the sphere is immeasurably wider than a rather private specific field of art. The sphere of culture includes the whole complex of everyday life of our lives, including here we dress, what we eat, how we build houses, how we communicate with each other and so on. And art, if you like, is a self -made and aesthetically conscious expression of what we eat, what we are building, how we communicate with each other.
Veronica Bode: an exhaustive answer. Vladimir from Novosibirsk, hello.
Student: Hello. I have a small replica to Mr. Shenderovich. So he talked about the need to study literature to the presidents. There was a successful experiment in America. The top managers were driven into Tmutarakan for a month, they took up a good literary criticism with them. As a result, they showed after that great success in work.
Viktor Shenderovich: Well, then Brodsky was not utopia. I read this week, forgot in which country they ordered, almost in India, the police on some state was ordered to play chess and read books. Two classes, I don’t know if this will reduce corruption, but in a sense it will be better to count. In fact, we will return to the practical side of Shakespeare and in general literature. This is very interesting. Two years this week since the beginning of the war in Iraq. Shakespeare is fighting almost everywhere: in chronicles, in tragedies - all the time of the war, all the time this topic is with Shakespeare. Most often, you correct me, if I made a mistake in quantitative terms, this is still a war of good with evil. King Lear, Macbeth ...
Alexey Bartoshevich: Yes, and just a war of states, a civil war.
Viktor Shenderovich: In Hamlet is just a war. So still about the war of good with evil. Shakespeare is most often quite clear - the holy war. The holy war of the French king, the Holy War against Macbetes. We most often encounter wars when the bad fights with terrible, bad with catastrophic, when there is no corridor on any side. And in this sense, consciousness, I am talking about my own, the consciousness is torn. In the case of the Iraqi war, on the one hand, you understand the monstrousness of what is happening and which genie was released from the bottle is still incomprehensible. On the other hand, not to fight with this, it is also quite monstrous to declare this war, because what was happening there with the same Saddam Hussein is not subject to comments. Shakespeare has some answer to this question for you - what to do? Although the question is from Chernyshevsky.
Alexey Bartoshevich: I would say that Shakespeare belonged to such authors who tried to avoid all kinds of specific advice and theses. Even if we talk about this very war, not only good with evil, but also just about the war. His plays give a whole range of different, opposite points of view and in the aggregate, absolutely not closing views, and a feeling of living life is born, we are already assessing. And already we say - this is good, but this is bad. The relationship between good and evil, if you resort to these categories that I do not really like it, because we do this less and less and less in vain. Well, if you resort to these categories, then Shakespeare has a significant evil, it is much stronger very often than good, but it is significant, it is not small, it is not negligible. Therefore, a strange thing when Shakespeare's villains die, we experience a dual feeling. On the one hand, a sense of justice, and on the other hand, a sense of loss of some very deep and large-scale personality. So with Macbet, so even with Richard. That is, it is not in vain that Dostoevsky puts in the mouth Ivan Karamazov, the one in whose philosophy he is trying to fight and with all the power of his talent for this philosophy collapses, nevertheless, he gives Ivan the monologue about the suffering child and that he is in a hurry to return to the kingdom of harmony. The argument, which, in essence, is very difficult to refute. This is the fearlessness of the great artist, when he creates not a whipping boy, on which there is a black cross and it is clear that he is a villain, but creates some significant and deep figure, behind which there is its own truth.
Veronica Bode: We have a call. Hope from Moscow, hello.
Student: Hello. Victor Anatolyevich, a very big request to you: please invite Gilov Ilya. It is impossible so that the great work of the smartest person who devoted all his life to him to be criticized.
Alexey Bartoshevich: Can I say about this? Am I talking about this book like that? I really love Ilya Mikhailovich, and if I categorically disagree with his point of view, this does not mean that I do not respect him.
Viktor Shenderovich: If someone has the right to speak out on this subject, then, I think, in this country - Alexey Vadimovich Bartoshevich, for sure.
Veronica Bode: We have a call. Alexander from St. Petersburg, hello.
Student: Hello. Please show your opinion on a public event related to "Moscow News".
Viktor Shenderovich: If this is a question for me, then I already spoke out on this subject publicly. It is very annoying that many are perceived by many as an editorial conflict, journalistic, as a conflict between the editor -in -chief Kiselev and the editorial team. This is a conflict between journalists, as well as the public council, between the public and the nomenclature. Because Evgeny Alekseevich Kiselev in this situation completely clearly proved himself as a nomenclature figure. He expressed public, intelligible, socially interesting claims on the method of leading the newspaper, up to the criminal claims. And if a person considers himself a journalist and public figure, he should also publicly respond to these accusations in a publicly, clearly. And if he meets the dismissal of those who put forward these claims to him, and with nomenclature actions, then he leads himself from among the public, he becomes nomenclature. The nomenclature has the right to answer this way. The Minister of Defense answers this way. They tell him that the soldiers are dying for you, he begins to pursue the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers. So the government answers. She is told that you have corruption, she closes the television company. This is a nomenclature way to respond to criticism. Now Evgeny Kiselev proved himself as a nomenclature figure. And this conflict is not between journalists, not inside the journalistic team, this is a conflict between society, part of which are journalists and nomenclature.
Veronica Bode: And another listener. Nikolai from Smolensk, please.
Student: Good afternoon. Let's take a break from politics. I have a question to the teacher of the theater institute. Of course, I understand that it is impossible to do without professional actors in the theater. But on filming, where spectators are absentee, maybe it is possible? If the dancer dances calmly in a restaurant in the presence of two special forces in machine guns and masks, maybe she will also endure the movie camera?
Victor Shenderovich: The question is not very clear to me. Nevertheless, amateurs, non -professionals were very often used in the cinema, sometimes it happened successfully. But this is successfully once, there are point -sided ones when a person can remove what Stanislavsky’s called “I am in the proposed circumstances” is very close to himself. And there were quite successful samples of this kind.
This is fine.
Hello.
Student: Good evening. Why?
Woman.
An interesting question.
There is no answer to this question.
This is the first.
Veronica Bode: We have a call. Michael from Moscow, hello.
I have two questions for you.
Let's wait.
