On August 19, 69 people were killed on August 19, as a result of shooting, opened by the ultra -right extremist Anders Breivik, mainly adolescents from 14 to 19 years old. According to the Norway authorities, 50 of the 69 families of victims of the attack decided to take part on the trip.
About six hundred people - relatives of the dead, representatives of the Norwegian government and regions - were transported to ferries to the camp, accompanied by a team of psychologists. Representatives of medical services, the Red Cross, as well as the police, who showed the relatives where the bodies of their loved ones were on duty on the island. It was allowed to observe the Journalists only from the coastline, at a distance of 500 meters from the Utaui.
- We tried to put the island in order, so it seems that it looks as usual. Families of the dead who arrived at the Uta could see that we had prepared a visit with the deepest respect for their feelings. It was a very difficult day for visitors, but from a psychological point of view, a visit to the place where their relatives were killed will help to alleviate the sorrow to people, ”says Norway -Ing Larsen, director of the Norwegian Health Department.
On August 20, the participants of the youth camp surviving during the attack returned to the island of Utoya. Young Norwegians left flowers, lighted candles, photos and notes in memory of their dead friends on Utaus.
- Young people behaved differently on the island . Some, of course, survived the traumatic experience, and it was not easy for them to visit here again. At the same time, laughter was heard on the island, good stories sounded, so visitors experienced a variety of emotions. It was very cool to see those who survived smiling at Utaua, ”said the representative of the Norwegian police, Yon Stamnes.
A month after the tragedy, there are still many questions for the actions of Norwegian law enforcement agencies. The lawyer of several families affected by Utau, Mette Ivonne Larsen said that relatives of the victims of the attack demand from the authorities explanations why the police arrived on the island only an hour after there were reports of shooting. Moreover, it became known that Anders Breivik, committing his killings, repeatedly called the police, saying that he was ready to surrender, and asked the police to call him back, but he never received an answer.
The Norwegian government has appointed a special commission that will be investigated by all the circumstances of what happened, including the actions of the Norwegian police and rescue services. The commission consisting of nine members is headed by the lawyer of Alexander Bek Yorv. “We do not exclude that we will evaluate the actions of individual people. But we are not going to evaluate anyone's personal responsibility,” the head of the government commission emphasized.
Meanwhile, the investigation in the case of Anders Bering Breivik continues. On August 13, Brayvik, accompanied by the police, arrived at Utoya to reconstruct the events arranged by him on the island of Boyany. For safety reasons, a bulletproof vest was put on a Brayvik. At the same time, he moved on the island without handcuffs - a rope was attached to the terrorist's belt, which was held by one of the police officers. All the time that the investigative experiment continued, the Norwegian police helicopter barred over the Utai. Air patrol was conducted by police in order to be sure that people who somehow learned about the investigative experiment and want to take revenge on the person accused of the most severe mass murder in the history of Norway are not hidden on the wooded island.
The reconstruction of events on the island of Utoya took eight hours. According to Heir Lippestad, the lawyer Anders Breivik, his client remembers well each individual episode of what was happening - during the investigative experiment, the terrorist told literally about each shot he had taken.
The other day, the Oslo County Court extended the maintenance of Breivik in a single chamber for four weeks. According to Judge Hugo Abelset, until September 19, Anders Breivika will still be prohibited from access to the Internet, newspapers and TV. He is also completely forbidden to communicate or correspond with someone, including with his family members. According to the judge, the accused himself stated that he was suffering from a prison cell from loneliness and considers the decision to isolate his "method of sadistic torture."
