The marriage of the prince on the air gathered a record audience and was accompanied by mass parties throughout the kingdom. For many, however, the celebrations were caused by irritation - they can be understood if you look at the matter from the point of view that the British monarchy is a group of strange people who are exclusively engaged in the process of self -reproduction, and then, respectively, pompous celebrations were dedicated to the next step in the path of this process. The answer to the question “Why, in fact, so much attention of the life of these people?” - It strikes the main achievement of the modern world, the idea of the equal uniqueness of each person: origin matters.
The monarchy pays its price for this: two young people whose condition is estimated, if I am not mistaken, at half a billion dollars, together with the mother, visit HIV-infected hospitals, go with humanitarian missions to Africa, pack their help for the victims of the tsunami, one of them sleeps in a bag on London Street to understand, and he finds a work of the homeless The pilot of the rescue helicopter, the other goes to fight in Afghanistan. Sending to war you can, as some critics do, consider the PR campaign to improve the image (there were really serious problems with the image there), but this does not change anything. For a minute about the royal coats of arms, and all of the above will seem inconceivable for children of multimillionaires by obedience.
In the famous play by Evgeny Schwartz “Dragon”, the title character speaks to one of the inhabitants of the city, in which he settled many years ago: “We are truly friends, dear Charleman. For each of you, I am even more than just a friend. I am a friend of your childhood. I am a childhood friend of your father, grandfather, great -grandfather. I remember your great -great -grandfather in short pants.” The royal dynasty is the same time machine. If an ordinary person rarely knows who his ancestors were older than a couple of generations, dynasties, even as relatively young as Windsers, measure the time for centuries. Like old photographs, royal surnames make a cozy shade of families in history, personifying it for the people, allowing him to find himself in the past, and thereby fastening the present.
The royal family, of course, is a dragon, but, like all the villains in fairy tales, more humble, more witty and interesting more than positive heroes. The life of the monarchs to the smallest details is described in newspapers and books, shown on television and in the cinema. A non -focused critic will say that they have long turned into characters in an endless soap opera. Maybe. Like the film "Show Truman", where the main character’s life from infancy was turned into a television series, the life of the inhabitants of the Buckingham Palace became the series of "Windsor show". But the one who indicates the vulgarity of what is happening on the screen will have to redirect his reproach of life itself. Everything that was shown was actually, and the people who are shown cannot leave the frame and smoke: the princes William and Harry teenagers were real after the coffin of their mother, and last festive Friday on the palace balcony next to them was a stepmother instead of their mother.
And therefore, to the question "What are we celebrating?" You can give such, albeit excessive pathos, the answer: "The triumph of life as a triumph of the ongoing history of the human race, complete suffering and joy."
As for Paphos - so all this is a television show.
