In the capital of Bosnia, Sarajevo hosted a summit dedicated to the integration of the former Yugoslav republics located in the Western Balkans in the European Union.
“The general goal of Europe and the region remains the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans into the European Union,” says the final message about the meeting in Saraev, released by the chairman of the EU Spain.
The states formed after the collapse of Yugoslavia have recently been concerned that the expansion of the EU could stop. Therefore, their first reaction is the satisfaction from the fact that the European prospect of the Balkans is again confirmed, ”Radio Liberty Aiya Kuga reports.
48 delegations at a high level took part in the Sarayevo summit - including foreign ministers of the European Union, representatives of the United States, Turkey and Russia. Local observers believe that although the result of the summit is more symbolic than the specific, it is important that the policies of the whole region were sitting on it for the first time at it. To ensure the presence of Kosovo, the independence of which is not recognized by Serbia, the meeting participants acted without symbols of their states.
