Marauding in Grozny

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia at the Adler 20 post at the village of Sleptsovskaya informed me that for the first time during the entire time of the war yesterday and today the number of people returning to Chechnya exceeded the number of those who leave the republic. After four months spent in tent camps and in Ingush villages, refugees, mainly women of middle and elderly, go home to evaluate the possibility of returning to their native foci. They, as a rule, go empty -handed or bring with them products obtained as humanitarian assistance. There they still have relatives and friends, and according to the stories of those who are familiar with the situation, they are not sweetly living in the republic now.

At the Adler-20 post, I talked with those who are traveling from Grozny. My interlocutor is Louise Musaeva, a woman of about 35. She spent two days in Grozny. The house on Tukhachevsky Street, in which she lived before the war with her family, practically did not suffer from hostilities - the knocked out windows and doors did not count. Louise says that the looters visited her apartment. The Musaevs hid all their good in the bedroom and sealed with wallpaper. But for looters, this trick was not a novelty. They took everything they could. There were two beds and a tool with which they opened this peculiar cache. While Louise cried over her hard share, and she lost her property for the second time, two soldiers climbed into the apartment. The woman says that they selected everything that was left of the looters, and frankly said that the authorities allowed them to do anything.

Nobody now lives in the entire nine -story building. Louise Musaeva also left him, and meanwhile, the soldiers broke the door of someone's apartment higher. The woman says that at night in the city, shootings periodically arise. Among people there are rumors that militants intend to capture the Grozny on March 26 - on the day of the presidential election. In this regard, the city is still closed to the male population and only women with Grozny registration are allowed there. But to go to the Terrible Louise to other refugees who lived in the central areas or in the microdistrict, does not advise - houses are destroyed, and hunger in the city. “It is better to look for a place for living somewhere in rural areas, but always at home - in Chechnya,” she says.
